- Pax rebounds more likely to have high viral loads *and* symptoms

This paper is *excellent* and so timely! We were fortunate to find a preschool for our son that still requires mask wearing for all teachers and students. We also waited to send him until he was fully vaccinated. Each layer of protection help keep kids healthy and schools open.
It's almost Back to School time & we're still seeing about 100k cases a day here in the US.
How do we stop COVID from going back to school too?

It's a shame that the benefits of vaccination in this group were underplayed constantly in the UK. Only 2% 5-11 yr olds have had 2 doses (only 10% have had 1 dose) in England. This is a huge failure of public health messaging. Still no word on approval of vaccines for under 5s.

vs hospitalizations was very high—83%
vs PCR confirmed infections 65%

—Protection of a previous infection against BA.4/BA.5 was lower than that against BA.1/BA.2 (> immune escape)
—Pre-Omicron infections offered little protection, but BA.1/BA.2 infections high, ~80% VE (Table)

When they assessed the neutralization induced against BA.4/BA.5 versus BA.1, it had already ↘️ x3 - x5.
This suggests to go antigenically closer to what is circulating now and likely this Fall ; AND use a full vaccine schedule for the update
