Horse racing gives bettors more information than ever.
But with CAWs, rebates, late odds changes and takeout, is the everyday horseplayer actually better off? I wrote about where value comes from now, why tournament play is different, and whether the edge has shifted from handicapping horses to handicapping the market.

Patriots v. Bears breakdown is up.
Chicago moved from -1.5 to -3, and the total climbed from 47.5 to 50.5. The side is difficult at the key number. I’m more interested in whether the market pushed the total too far. Full read on Substack 👇#TNF #Patriots

Horse racing keeps trying to sell itself as entertainment, but the bigger problem is the wagering product.
High takeout, late odds movement, CAW advantages and fewer everyday players are a much bigger threat than whether the TV presentation is exciting enough.
Fix the betting experience and the rest gets a lot easier. What’s the first thing horse racing needs to fix to bring regular bettors back?
Morning Markets is up.
So oil is back near $92, Treasury yields are moving higher, and Nasdaq futures are under pressure before the open.
I’m watching whether buyers defend the first selloff or whether this is the morning tech finally stops shrugging off the macro pressure. #StockMarket #Nasdaq

Morning Markets is up.
Yields are back up. Oil is back near $90. Nasdaq is sitting near record territory.
The question I'm watching today: Can tech keep ignoring the pressure from rates and oil? #StockMarket #Nasdaq

Closing Markets: Nasdaq Finally Felt the Pressure From Rates
This morning I was watching whether Nasdaq could keep holding up with yields and oil moving higher.
Yields pushed higher and Nasdaq weakened. Later, yields backed off and Nasdaq recovered a good portion of the move.
That’s the relationship I’m watching more closely now not just where the 10-year sits, but which direction it’s moving and how tech reacts.
We reset tomorrow morning.
Keeneland selections are up for Sunday.
Full-card A/B/C rankings updated for scratches, with added focus on pace, true early speed, late runners, and upside in the younger horses. @SportsMoney_Net

ATL @ GB : Market Read
Green Bay opened around -6.5/-7, got pushed all the way down toward -4/-4.5, and now we’re starting to see some -5s show back up.
That looks like early Atlanta money followed by Green Bay buyback once the number got low enough.
My number is roughly GB -4.5/-5, so the current market looks close to fair. I’d expect this to close around GB -4.5 or -5 unless something new hits.
Total has also come down into the 43.5 range. I make it about 43.5-44, so not much separation there either. Interesting market because the opener moved a long way, but now it looks like we may have found the resistance point. GL
