The gable end is all that’s left of this little cottage in the woods. Such a quiet, enchanted place.

A quick update...
The podcast will be coming soon. 💚I had lots of suggestions for the title - thank you to everyone who helped out.
I finally decided on Our British Wildlife. I want to make people realise how precious our wildlife is...that we all have a responsibility to love and protect it.
Scripts are mostly written and the first one is about the curlew. It is the next step towards ...Saving British Wildlife. 💚

Please say no to plastic grass. This ugly stuff removes food & shelter for wildlife including bees, butterflies & birds; has a high carbon footprint; sheds micro-plastics which wash into our rivers & seas. Create a wildlife-friendly space instead. More:

This is what we've come to.
A retired couple had to spend £1m of their own money taking both the @EnvAgency and @NaturalEngland to the High Court simply to force both of these charlatans to do their job, safeguard one of our nation's most legally heavily protected bits of countryside.
And the environment charities does what exactly?

A charity has secured land to build a new wildlife hospital after a six-year "fight" to make their plans a reality. 💚
Oxfordshire Wildlife Rescue (OWR) has raised £100,000 to help fund the project after an appeal to build a dedicated centre to better treat sick, injured and orphaned wild animals.
It plans to include specialist wards for hedgehogs, small mammals and birds, as well as a nursery for small animals.
There is no set opening date, but the charity aims to begin work at the new site by May 2027.

I was lucky enough to see another Kingfisher yesterday!😍
I was in a hide at RSPB Ham Wall, but made the mistake of letting others in the hide know it was there... they all rushed over & ended up scaring it away before I could take any more photos.. still I did get this one.😊🐦

Based on 40 birds caught in just one morning, we estimate this single site was wiping out ~100 songbirds every day. 💔 2/3

The slaughter of precious, fragile migrating birds in unfathomable numbers around the Mediterranean twice each year is an ecological calamity of global importance.

I think I missed this news when it was published but considering how gloomy the news is...am going to share it.👇
White Mills Meadow is a six hectare floodplain meadow near Earls Barton on the banks of the River Nene. This will be the Trust’s 34th reserve in the county and has been generously given to the Trust by a local farming family who would like it to be managed for nature.

It’s very unusual to find a flower more usually associated with Easter at the beginning of October. This Pasque flower was on Bourton Downs yesterday. The drought conditions have put several species of plants out of sync. #wildflowerhour
