We can do this all day. Whether it is Survation, Ipsos, Opinium, YouGov, Whitestone, BMG, Omnisis and many others. All the polls show that, when confronted with the reality of EU membership, Brits *still* want to stay out of the EU.

The Scottish Parliament’s Health, Social Care and Sport Committee has recommended against the Right to Recovery Bill despite the Parliament’s own consultation showing that almost 80 per cent of respondents supported it. We always knew this would be an uphill fight. But let’s be clear: if MSPs are serious about rights, then they should back enforceable rights. Not vague aspirations. Not hollow promises. Rights that people can actually use. If they are so confident in the system they champion, then let them put their money where their mouth is: mandate those rights in law, or at the very least embed them in binding guidance. Otherwise, it is smoke and mirrors. The truth is, this Bill was never going to pass through committee. The make-up of that committee, and the witnesses chosen, predetermined the outcome. But the fight was always about exposing that reality and keeping the pressure on for genuine, accessible rights to recovery. .open.substack.com/pub/thegla…

I was in real danger of becoming politically homeless. You are giving me hope that I might find a tribe.

BREXIT DAY BENEFIT BONANZA The UK banned testing cosmetics on animals in 1996, but EU laws introduced in 2006 made it *mandatory* to test new cosmetic ingredients on animals - despite contradictory EU laws banning it as well. Brexit allowed the UK to fix the conflicting laws.

It really is not. The primary job of historians is to find out and communicate what happened in the past, not to police the past in the perceived interests of the politics of the present.

Happy Brexit day! Happy Independence Day! "we have regained something of immeasurable value by leaving the EU. It is the ability once more to make our own decisions – even if that means, on occasion, making our own mistakes." #BrexitBenefits telegraph.co.uk/opinion/2024…

Hi @ObserverUK - on your front page tomorrow you've stated that "The OBR says UK GDP will be around 4% lower every year than it would have been had we remained inside the EU" This is NOT what the OBR said - their forecast was based on 2035, not on every year since Brexit.

You are a FRAUD. The photo is from a Farmer's Weekly story of Jan 2023 - reporting it accurately as a labelling error [bit.ly/3KtfpWh]. Resorting to lies shows you're done, bankrupt of evidence and any moral standing. Be gone now @LizWebsterSBF with your duplicity.
The dishonest labelling continues! @coopuk why are you selling German apples with labels saying they’re British with a Union Jack? British farmers work hard to produce the nation’s food and it’s bad enough that supermarkets undercut us, but to label imported food as British is nothing less than disgraceful.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is not a new occurrence as is suggested by the post - this is a cropped image from a story in January 2023, which was a printing error by Co-op and quickly resolved, removing the affected stock from sale. fwi.co.uk/news/red-tract…

As usual, Catherine McBride explains how the detail behind slogans is not just wrong but perverse. Encouraging greater use of private education (& health services) would expand capacity and relieve pressure on the state public services. VAT on schooling is a green-eyed mistake.

Inheritance tax receipts in the last financial year hit record levels, £400m higher than the previous year. Jeremy Hunt made all sort of noises about wanting to reduce the death tax but actually increased it by allowing the threshold at whch it's paid to fall in real terms.
