The NIL era is flipping the NBA Draft on its head. Only 71 players entered the 2026 NBA Draft, per the NBA. Down from 106 last year and a peak of 363 in 2021. That's the lowest early-entrant total since 2003. College basketball stars are staying in school, overwhelmingly.

Thomas Haugh will earn over $4 million during his senior season at Florida after forgoing the 2026 NBA Draft. Haugh and Braylon Mullins, two potential lottery picks, stayed put with schools now able to match their projected NBA salary slot. NIL has completely changed the game.

“You could put an NBA role-player on a 16-seed and they’d win it all” Reminder that this dude played with FOUR (4) OTHER NBA DRAFT PICKS on a 1-seed and didn’t even MAKE the championship game. The list is a lot smaller than you think.

Colin Cowherd on the criticism Bam is receiving for scoring 83 points: “Bam Adebayo scored 83 points last night. Everybody is attacking him. This is what we do in America. The minute there’s success we have to tear everybody down. 83 is 83. He’s an excellent basketball player. When Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points his team was fouling the Knicks to get extra possessions. When Kobe scored 81 against an awful Raptors team, the Lakers led by 15 with 4:30 left and Kobe scored another 11. Bam had 31 in the 1st! 62 after 3 quarters! It was totally legitimate! Every star in this league has had the chance to play the Wizards and they don’t score 83!” (Via @TheHerd)

Dreams do come true. For 15 years I’ve chased this goal. Thousands of hours in gyms, on planes, behind a laptop, and behind a mic—using my platforms as my résumé, preparing me for the perfect opportunity to begin my NBA career. I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a role as a Europe-based International Scout with the Dallas Mavericks.

Nique Clifford is an elite defensive wing that brings a lot of value to that end of the floor. He has the defensive versatility to defend multiple positions at a high level due to his physique (6’6” in shoes, 6’8” wingspan and 200 pounds), lateral quickness and great feel on the defensive end. Clifford has very quick hands and good instincts which allows him to get steals and blocks. On top of all of that he’s arguably the best wing rebounder in the draft. The defensive wing is quite NBA ready and is ready to make an immediate impact on whatever NBA team he ends up on.

Nolan Traore came into the season in top five pick conversations but after a shaky season he still is very much an enticing prospect due to his quick first step, ability to get to the rim, playmaking chops and defensive tools. The 6’4” lead guard has blow-by speed that allows him to get consistent paint touches when the floor is properly spaced. He should thrive with NBA spacing. Traore has good court vision and is a very good playmaker that plays an unselfish brand of basketball. He can put up assist numbers. Defensively he’s active in the passing lanes where he can get deflections and he has the physical tools / foot speed to eventually be a very good on-ball defender. He likely won’t reach stardom, but could be a very reliably backup point guard in the NBA for years to come.

Jase Richardson is a combo guard who has the ability to play on or off the ball at a high level in the NBA. The Michigan State product is a very good shot-maker at all three levels. Silky smooth pull-up from the mid-range and behind the arc. Thrives as a spot-up shooter where he shot over 40% from three this past season. He can also finish very well around the rim and has an advanced floater in the lane. The lefty is an incredibly efficient scorer that may lack size, but certainly passes the eye test and has the advanced stats to back it up.
