We look forward to the child of a Russian oligarch or a Chinese "businessman", who is studying in Scotland on a temporary visa, being permitted to stand for election to our Parliament.
Or will @JohnSwinney rethink when the sheer idiocy of a system that permits this, hit him?
John Swinney says his govt will not review legislation which allows foreign nationals with limited leave to remain to stand for election - despite committee call for that.
Also dismisses finance committee report which says his govt is not transparent about public finances.

This is Naveed Aktar who has just been granted Cat D prison and day release to help him settle back into the community.
He is the brother of the man who owned the "party house" that was used to abuse me in for years and for men from across the Country to come and abuse me and others. He was convicted of 2 counts of rape and given 17 years in 2019.
He was also caught smuggling drugs into prison through the crown court toilets during the trial and given extra time.
He has served just a fraction of these sentences and is soon going to back back in society.

When you strip this down to it's basics, the idea that someone who is not a citizen getting to set the direction of the entire country by deciding its laws is absolutely farcical. It's complete antithesis of representative democracy. Entire episode is to Holyrood's deep shame.
SNP MSP Jenni Minto: "The changes that allowed people with limited leave to remain to stand for election should be reconsidered.
"They appear to have run ahead of what the public want and the rationale for making the change is simply not clear."

➡️"Their depravity seems to have had no bounds"
⚖️The trial of 9 men accused of sexually abusing and raping a woman drugged by her husband began yesterday.
The court heard that ONE MILLION photos and videos 'cataloguing' the husband's depraved abuse were found on his phone.
As well as "almost a script" - "like a confession booth" - of the husband's offending and the nine men on trial in encrypted chat groups.
They opened by playing some of the horrific videos to the jurers, who had been warned of the upsetting evidence.
The husband and four of the 13 men have admitted all charges.
The nine men on trial deny all charges and the trial is set to continue for three months.
It is unimaginable what this woman is having to endure. These 12 weeks will feel like never ending nightmare. I hope she remembers that the shame is not hers - it lies solely with these despicable perpetrators.
I stand with her.

For Akua Reindorf KC and Baroness Falkner to reach this conclusion is shocking.
Labour MPs need to take this seriously.
The conversion bill is so poorly drafted it could be declared incompatible with basic human rights.
That would be extraordinary for modern legislation.

For two respected human rights professionals to reach the confident conclusion this bill breaches basic human rights is seismic.

The horrendous details in this mass rape case in Manchester are being revealed because despite the husband admitting his guilt 9 men still plead not guilty.
“Detectives found more than a million photographs and videos "cataloging" the husband's abuse on that device”
And one defendant allegedly texted,
"Delete all images from your phone etc as its too risky. Remember what happened to the guy in France.
"Delete me from your phone and life. If she caught you out it would be a whole lot of trouble and end of your marriage and ruin your life”.
Gisele Pelicot is a warning and now this woman will be too. “It’s too risky”. They are both very brave women defending other women too with their actions. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwdr…

There are still open slave markets in modern day Islamic countries. Yazidi women were openly made into daily rape victims by Islamic slave traders. Talk about that.
A welcome step from the PM.
The Transatlantic Slave Trade was one of history’s most heinous crimes.
We must be honest about how the horrors of our past have shaped the present - because only then can we begin to build a fairer future for everyone.

It’s seriously wild that Parliament has heard detailed statements on, amongst other things: the Holocaust, the Omagh bombing, Hillsborough, Aberfan, & the 7/7 terrorist attacks.
But the only time in 200 years they’ve needed a trigger warning was @Jebadoo2 pitching up to tell them it was wrong to sterilise autistic gay teenagers.

Does everybody remember the Bradford grooming gang case involving a 15-year-old girl who was subjected to an Islamic marriage ceremony with her abuser, while her own social worker attended?
Well, her abuser, Raja Zulqurnean, originally sentenced to 18 years on 14 May 2025, had his sentence increased to 23 years by the Court of Appeal on 5 September 2025, after it was deemed unduly lenient.
My question remains: Why was the social worker who attended this so-called marriage ceremony not in the dock as well? A vulnerable child in state care, being exploited in plain sight. Where was the safeguarding? Where was the accountability?

Barrister @Jebadoo2 explains how a parent saying to their child they should love their body could meet every element of the Government’s proposed ‘conversion practices’ offence.
As Dennis says, all it takes is one difficult, distressing argument for a parent to be wide open to the risk of prosecution.
How can Women and Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson claim the Bill “will not impinge on” parents’ ability to have difficult conversations with their children?

So, a boy has been spared prison for stabbing a girl repeatedly because he is a bright lad. Recently, some boys were spared prison for raping girls because they were not bright lads. Open season, then.
