TEA’s Teacher Vacancy Task Force final report was released back in February. It focused on 3 key areas: Compensation, Training/Support, & Working Conditions. What happened to #txlege focusing on these key areas? Instead bills such as #SB8 are attempting to divert monies from #txed and add additional testing.
#SB8 that aims to divert monies from #txed along with additional testing.
#SB9 creates Teacher Retention Allotment to increase teacher salaries by $2K in districts with 20k+ students, $6K in districts with less than 20k. Only to be provided in the 2023-24 school year.
#HB100 increases student allotment by $90 from $6,160 to $6,250 rather than what is needed.
What can you do? Tell your legislators to protect and support public ed.

This historic investment will enable us to make significant improvements to aging facilities that will free up millions of dollars a year in our operating budget — money that can help us reach our goal of becoming the highest paying school district for teachers in the region.
