Fake Steph Curry

I stay out of the colorism debate because everybody knows where I stand on that. It is not my place to speak outside of backing up the voices that should be heard first. I just saw a tweet that suggested that light skinned people turn down opportunities to open that space for someone darker. That’s beautiful in theory, but we aren’t the decision makers. In a perfect world, that would help to level the playing field. This is America. We can acknowledge that we have privileges, but we did not do anything to earn those privileges. They were given to us by society. In all actuality, we’re gonna turn down a potentially beneficial opportunity that the decision-maker is gonna give to someone else and it probably still won’t be a darker skinned person. In many cases we can’t choose who our “replacement” will be. Nobody benefits in the system that is not designed for Black people.
