I’d also like to give much-deserving shoutouts to 3 executives with the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority: CEO Ryan Walsh, chairman Juan Garcia and COO Holly deBeer. They did another incredible job on behalf of our city, including the World Cup and now the Houston Sports Hall of Fame. Congratulations on a job well done!

We’re excited about screening our documentary on the Prairie View Interscholastic League Wednesday in Corpus Christi. CC Miller, led by RB Johnny Roland, won Texas’ first integrated state title in 1960 over Wichita Falls. Johnny is joining us. A BIG thank you to Corpus Christi!

Life will always have its carrot and egg moments. That part is guaranteed.
But you always have a choice in how you respond. You can let your environment change you, or you can become the coffee bean and transform the environment around you.
The power has always been inside you.

Pete Ragus, 98, was the head coach at Corpus Christi Miller in 1960 when they won the first integrated state title. Pete told us the toughest team and player they beat in the playoffs was Port Arthur Jefferson, 6-0 in the semis. The player was nose guard Jimmy Johnson.

Bleach celebrates its 30th anniversary Sunday. One of the special guests is Kingwood’s Ryan “Dirk” DeLange. He attended Baylor, is Nashville based and the son-in-law of my good friend Rob Lynch. Dirk does the music on our documentaries, including the new one on Dan Pastorini.
