Great to be with @BenAllenCA and @HenrySternCA in Malibu learning about the future of resilience in a high fire risk community.

Who should replace Ben Allen in the State Senate? @GoldsmithB has the decency and smarts to get us thru an increasingly risky future. @JohnEricksonWH “elbows out” Trump-like approach to performative politics is corrosive and dangerous. theacorn.com/articles/goldsm…

LA Councilwoman @TraciParkforLA was one of 3 councilmembers to vote against spending $460,000 to study creating a city-owned public bank.
“We can’t even manage our own damn finances,” Park said, questioning why the city would consider operating a bank while struggling with homelessness, infrastructure and budget problems.

In what world is Putin a "humanitarian?” He's assassinated political rivals and journalists, bombed hospitals, and started a war that has intentionally killed tens of thousands of innocent people, including women and children. He's a war criminal.

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.
Deeply honored to have John Heilman’s support—an 8 time mayor, founding father of West Hollywood, and longtime pathbreaking LGBTQ activist.

The images coming out of Paris and other French cities this morning are shocking. Peaceful protest is the hallmark of any democracy, but coopting that for violence is never acceptable.
My heart goes out to the people of France who are reeling in the aftermath of this destruction.
Police deploy tear gas and protesters stormed municipal buildings as tens of thousands of people take to the streets in fiery demonstrations across France.

Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. If the President wants to actually bring down energy prices, he can do it by solving the Iran problem, not by doing a solid for Vladimir Putin.

When a presidency signals it doesn't care about corruption, the rot spreads far and wide.
Deters: "I have paid you $300,000 over the years. ... I need results."
Guilfoyle: "Stop papering all these things. It’s really dangerous. Just call me on Signal. ... if you write an email or a text about, l’m gonna kill you cause I love you but you’re so out of control"

Why are we leaving people to die on the streets in California in the name of civil liberty? Would you accept this for your mom, dad, brother, sister? So why do we accept this moral failure for someone who doesn’t have the same support system?
For years, advocates and higher levels of government told us to invest in call diversion. Last year, we increase 911 call transfers to 988 by 10x to try to connect people with a more appropriate response team. But when Japantown residents called 988 last week to help this poor woman laying in her own excrement in front of a small business, they were told she couldn’t be helped.
So we went back to @SanJosePD to secure yet another 5150 hold. This means she was held involuntarily in our County hospital for no more than 72 hours and is now, as with the many times prior, right back on the streets of Japantown, suffering in public, impacting residents and small businesses, and not getting the life-saving intervention she needs and the wider community deserves.
Our next Governor must do two things to end this humanitarian crisis: fund in-patient treatment facilities and allow CARE Court to mandate involuntary treatment for longer than a brief visit to the county hospital. The compassion answer is to intervene and require people come indoors. Enough excuses.

Senator Cotton is right. Permanent Daylight Savings has been tried and Americans didn’t like it. The better way is permanent Standard Time because it’s based on science. No dark mornings, it keeps our time in sync with the Sun, and no more changing the clocks. Arizona has been on Standard Time year round since 1968 without issue.
No one likes changing the clock, me included, but Congress has enacted permanent Daylight Savings Time multiple times before and repealed it each time once Americans experienced absurdly late sunrises in the winter. Arkansans don’t want their kids going to school in the pitch dark, and I’ll always put Arkansas first.

Years ago I interviewed Houston Mayor Annise Parker who told me one of the main reasons the city was able to cut homelessness by so much is she forced all the governments and nonprofits into a room and made them use the same data system.

ALT The agencies use different data systems, and even different Google spreadsheets, to produce their reports and often have different bureaus within them managing different housing programs

ALT For example, a senior director for Bass told the interviewers that the Inside Safe program uses an internal Google spreadsheet to manage its occupancy records and does not have access to the Homeless Management Information System, the countywide database that tracks street contacts with homeless people and housing placements.

Before Congress, I produced film and TV. I know how productions pick where to shoot: they follow the incentives.
Right now, 65 countries offer them. The U.S. has no national film tax credit.
The bipartisan bill I'm co-leading creates a 20%-30% credit on American labor so the math makes shooting here work again.
