Did you use Iowa's buzz for the college football playoff to motivate your team? P.J. Fleck: We never really focused on what they said or what they did or what they've talked about. I think it's really hard to ignore. - I'm not saying that I. I mean, they're a five and one football team ranked 15th in the country. That puts you in the college football playoff pretty much right in the conversation. - Our players never mentioned it, didn't talk about it. It was around, but it wasn't a focus. -We had to play better than we did, you know, against Purdue, and we had to respond, and that was our main focus. - That's what we focused on this entire two weeks. Fleck on beating Iowa at home: - It’s a it's a magical moment memory that you get paid to create for not only your football team, but your coaches, our community, our fans, our student body who pays all the tuition, our band. That's what college is all about. - We get caught up in all this other stuff right now. We're never going to take the fun out of football here at the University of Minnesota ever, and that was fun. - That is row the boat to a T. That is culture to a T, and they proved it to themselves, and I think that's what I'm most proud of. It it wasn't proving it to the externals; proving it to themselves they could do it. - When everybody told them they couldn't do it, another underdog, right? - With everything going against you in the fourth quarter, no momentum. Next play, next six seconds, and created a magical moment memory for everybody, and it's one. But life's full of those ones, and it's not going to happen to you all the time. So if you take for granted and you don't celebrate, you just you pass through life with not remembering any of those things. - We have over 350 alum here. Why? Because of the moments and memories they had here, with us, without us, before us. That's what homecoming is all about, and to do it in front of one of the largest crowds in the history of our stadium on homecoming, with Eric Decker, you know, beating beating the drum, and do it the way we did it. - It's special, but it's going to be special for the next 24 hours, and then we're going to move on. P.J. Fleck on momentum (and a whole lot more): - We don't believe in momentum - Momentum's all based on hope of hopefully somebody does something stupid so we can benefit off that. If they're not doing it, so we must be magically doing it. I don't believe it. P.J. Fleck on special teams: - They were consistent, complementary, punt punt block, kickoff, kickoff return, field goal, field goal block. - We talked, we were going to go block the punt. I mean, it was there. - DDP schemed it up really good all week. You know, DDP was the punter, so we didn't get anybody hurt. - So all you can do is put the scheme together.
