My Brasilian housepainter seems very chipper today. Anyone have any idea why? 😄

In 2016, people who wanted to stay in the EU were called REMAINERS and those who wanted out, LEAVERS. In 2026, those who want back in must be JOINERS whereas people who want to continue outside the EU are by definition REMAINERS. How the world turns in just 10 years.

Whose fault was that Frostie? We had no idea because we didn't count anyone in or anyone out. We had literally no idea. Other EU countries require you to register at the council, you get a police check and they ask whether you've got a job and enough money. When I asked Teresa May why she didn't deploy this policy she said "It's just not British". We've no-one to blame for this immigration negligence but ourselves.
It is hardly surprising that someone open to rejoining the EU would be open to free movement. Burnham's romanticised picture of EU membership ignores the fact that we literally had no idea who was coming into the country before 2016. We were always told there were 3 million EU citizens in Britain. When we counted them we discovered there were 6 million. Any attempt to return to free movement has to reckon with the fact that a country like Spain has legalised the status of a million plus illegal migrants since then, and with the very visible tensions and anxieties amongst EU member states on the subject. There can be no viable policy which doesn't involve HMG having full control over who comes into this country. We aren't there at the moment, but we will need to get there in the end. Andy Burnham may not understand this now, but he will have to do so eventually.

How do you discuss 'free movement' with the EU? If you want to participate in the EU's internal market, you sign up to the four freedoms; money, labour, goods and services. The only question is internal to the UK: do you accept the rules or not? Over a decade and the media fail to grasp this simple truth in their reporting.

As it's #Caturday , I thought I'd introduce the colony of feral cats that have adopted me as their human. Otis here is the patriarch, he's been making my garden his home for over 12 years. He's not too well, always hungry as he suffers from hyperthyroidism (now medicated).

Dotty tuned up with her sister/daughter Lotty. They were inseparable - until Lotty disappeared one day. No sign. She mourned every day for a couple of months, searching and calling. She's an old girl, set in her ways, a loner, and deeply suspicious of all the other cats (including me!).

That's it. Just eight remain out of about 20 that have made themselves welcome over the past 14 years. Happy #Caturday

Does anyone know if Burnham's at the Emirates today? Or does he only go to Citeh home matches with actual Emiratis when he's in No10 North? 😉

Tesla's roadster flying makes many think "Why is Europe so behind?" Well.. Citroën has announced the 2CV electric, a €15.000 car build for the masses. Europe is returning to its roots of mass producing for its ordinary citizens. Like Elon said "a model is easy, manufacturing is hard" Europe has in recent history focussed on ever more expensive cars, but the tide is turning. Sub €20k electric cars will save the European car industry, and with it manufacturing in Europe as we know it. If Citroën succeeds in mass-manufacturing of the new 2CV, it will mark a return of Europe's tradition of "people's cars" and it might become one of the most sold car in the world, ever. Something Tesla has not achieved, their cars have not been dropping in price anymore, and instead they now focus on luxury gimmicks. So the roles are in fact changing, while Tesla first prided itself on bringing electric cars to the masses, and Europe bringing out luxury cars, Europe has now embraced the mission Tesla couldn't succeed with: Make Electric cars the standard.

Key questions that must be answered about Ukrainian internet throttling: Was the order to limit access timed to coincide with Russia's attack? Was it based on Russian attack plans? Info provided by Russia? Someone(s) in this admin has committed a potentially capital offense.
Currently lost in the chatter: To what end? Russia targeting Ukraine's power infrastructure ahead of winter is designed to induce civilian freezing to death. I.e. The White House has materially aided CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY.

Another Starmer policy stolen by Powell as if it’s her own idea
“With AI on the rise, we need to go harder on the skills that makes us human, like oracy. That ability to articulate yourself confidently is central to success in work and life, but for too long it’s been a marker of privilege. Now it will become the right of every child.” Read more 👇 thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

Top right-wing shithousery from provocateur Matt Goodwin in conflating migrants with illegal migrants. Of course no government accepts illegal migration. Here are the deportation figures for the last twelve months… Germany 36,075 Italy 6,800 Denmark 1,100 Greece 11,300 UK 40,605
I’m sick of left-wing activists like Dan Hodges refusing to accept we can deport migrants to third countries. Germany is doing it. Italy is doing it. Denmark & Greece are doing it. They’re even looking at Rwanda & Uganda. Every illegal should be deported.
