Mr. Gates, who pioneered the development of Windows software, opened new possibilities for people around the world to broaden their perspectives through web-connected virtual windows. Today, he is leading efforts to advance public goods in critical areas such as global health and sustainable energy. Notable achievements have already been made in public health, including the development of vaccines through collaborations between the Korean government, Korean biomedical companies, and the Gates Foundation. The Republic of Korea will continue to fulfill its role as a responsible global power by working closely with global health organizations. The Republic of Korea, as the first country in history to transition from an international aid recipient to a developed donor, will uphold its ODA commitments and further expand its contributions to the global community. Mr. Gates wished me success at the summit with President Trump during my upcoming visit to the United States. I responded by assuring him that I intend to hold a thoughtful discussion addressing the challenging agenda ahead.
