Yesterday, GPD and GFD were dispatched to Grapevine Lake, where a Tesla Cybertruck was stranded in the water. The driver drove into the lake to use the “Wade Mode” feature when the vehicle became disabled. The passengers abandoned the vehicle and the driver was arrested.
GPD busted a major DFW auto theft ring. Stolen vehicle parts linked to 30+ vehicles, VIN-swapped vehicles, stolen firearms and cash were recovered; an estimated total value of $1.6M. Five suspects were charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity/Property Theft > $300K.
ALT A collection of car parts, including doors and bumpers, is stacked outside metal storage units with red roll-up doors. The parts appear to be various colors, including blue and black. The scene is outdoors, and the ground is concrete.
ALT A storage unit contains several steering wheels, a vehicle door, and other automotive parts scattered on a concrete floor.
Just before 1:00 this afternoon, GPD responded to an incident at the 3300 block of Wilshire Ave. The area is secure and our officers will remain on scene. We will release more information as it is available.
