The final CCF session of the year saw us using the school's fire pit for the first time. Cadets made small fires in Kelly Kettles to heat water and then cooked pizza wraps and smores on the fire pit.
Cadets from our CCF (RN) unit once again represented the school at the annual Fly a Flag event, ahead of Armed Forces Day. The cadets conducted themselves perfectly despite the heat and then chatted to some veterans and local dignitaries including the Mayor of Gravesham.
Students hard at work while on this year’s GGS Nautical Explorer voyage. They have learnt how to tie knots, hoist sails, steer a yacht, cook meals for 20 people and more! The weather has been absolutely amazing and all having a great time.
Through our Sponsored Walk this year, we are aiming to raise £15,000. One of the charities is the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund, a fantastic local charity giving direct access to mental health counselling for young people. To donate please visit the GGS website. Thank you.
We learnt last week that Edward Stead, former GGS Head of English & Theatre Studies had passed away. A hugely popular teacher and member of staff who will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with this family and friends at this sad time.
Well done to GGS's Harry Croucher, who swam brilliantly at the Regional Swimming Championships last weekend.
Harry won the 50m Breaststroke and also came 5th in the 50m Freestyle, a really amazing achievement.
Congratulations from everyone at GGS!
It's been a very busy week in the library, this little lot is just from this morning! It's lovely to see the boys getting into reading and enjoying their books. #boyswhoread #readingforpleasure #schoollibrary
Congratulations and well done to GGS's Jess Goodwin who competed in the GB Deaf National Swimming Championships this weekend and came away with 8 Gold medals along with a trophy for best female swimmer.
What an amazing achievement!
Thank you @piccadillypress and @ReadingAgency for sending us ten copies of #preyzone by Wilbur Smith, Keith Chapman, and Steve Cole to review. The students have them to read over Easter and will be writing reviews next term
CCF Royal Navy cadets took part in a training exercise run by the RN Engagement team (#rnengagement_ra) focused on a mock exercise similar to that conducted at Officer Training Level. Teamwork, leadership and communication were key.
Congratulations to GGS's Harry Croucher on his recent successes at the Kent Swimming Championships and at LAC.
1st for his age group in the 50m Breaststroke & 50m Free and 2nd in the 100m & 200m Breaststroke. Well done!

This was the returns pile from periods 1 and 2 on Monday morning but we've been so busy we're only posting now. There are some old favourites alongside the Roy of The Rovers graphic novels which are extremely popular right now. #boyswhoread #schoollibrary
GGS has its first girls rugby team and they started in fantastic fashion by winning their first match yesterday. Well done!
