The Great Reserve

A 150-year-old giant sequoia thrives in the grounds of a UK school—so tall that students once climbed its lower branches. Some trees make a place feel truly special. #GiantSequoia #Nature

Sequoias thriving in the UK! Planted in a shaded, acidic woodland, these trees show nearly 3 feet of growth thanks to protection from harsh sun and valley hydration. Deer guards are key in this habitat. #Sequoiadendron #TreePlanting

These trees are climate change allies! They capture and store carbon, grow rapidly in the right conditions, and can live for 3,000 years. An incredible natural solution. #ClimateAction #Reforestation #Nature

These trees are like sleeping giants, unable to reproduce without wildfires to open their seed cones. Our mission: plant 100,000 in the UK, reviving a process the Victorians started in the 1850s. #Conservation #Reforestation #UKNature

A single giant sequoia can store over 1,400 tons of CO2. That's nearly 3 times the lifetime emissions of an average UK person! One tree's impact is immense. #Environment #ClimateAction #Nature

Climate change is stressing California's sequoias with droughts and debris buildup due to prevented wildfires. This leads to superheated wildfires that, despite the trees' natural fire retardant bark, can overcome these ancient giants. #ClimateChange #Sequoias #Wildfires

Old-growth forests, especially ancient sequoias, are vital for combating carbon emissions. Cultivating new old-growth forests is key to leveraging nature for climate change solutions. #OldGrowth #ClimateAction #Conservation

Giant Sequoias defy normal growth patterns. Unlike most trees that slow down, they continue adding mass at a consistent rate throughout their lives, producing more wood annually than other species do in a lifetime. #GiantSequoias #NatureFacts

Giant sequoias are climate change allies! We're planting them on felled timber land, intermixing with native species for biodiversity. These non-invasive 'sleeping giants' store massive carbon without natural invasive propagation risks. #ClimateAction #Reforestation #Biodiversity

Planting trees today for a legacy that will outlast civilisations. Witnessing the growth of forests planted just two years ago is a fantastic feeling, knowing these trees will thrive for many future generations. #Forestry #Legacy #Sustainability

One giant sequoia stores over 1,400 tons of CO2 – that's nearly 3x the lifetime emissions of an average Brit! These trees keep growing, capturing more carbon each year than other species do in their entire lives. #ClimateAction #GiantSequoia #CarbonCapture

Standing next to the Stagg Sequoia really shows how huge these trees are 🌲 Estimated to be over 240 feet tall and more than 1,200 years old 🌍✨ thegreatreserve.org/ #GiantSequoia #TheGreatReserve #Nature

Can you guess how old this tree is? 🌲👀 This Giant Sequoia is actually 5 years old! These incredible trees can live for over 3,000 years and become some of the largest trees on Earth 🌍✨ thegreatreserve.org/ #TheGreatReserve #GiantSequoia #Conservation #Nature
