Truths, bolted together, can build a story to the heavens. Sustaining those truths can be quite laborious, each nut and bolt torqued by hand. Take time to nourish your soul…check your logic, question your intuitions. One nut, one bolt, one true story…..built on any faultline.

Dr. Jung once told me that any man who comes into your consulting room will either be 21 or 45 years of age no matter his chronological age because his problems will be that he can't get into life or can't get out of life. Those are the only 2 problems a man ever has.~RA Johnson

Is mental illness in adulthood akin to epigenetic drift with ageing. Healthy canalization/development gets skewed in abnormal ways/ goes awry.

A few weeks ago, our founder, Donald Hoffman, sat down with @BrianMuraresku for a fascinating conversation on the nature of reality, consciousness, and the limits of our current scientific understanding, moderated by @evan_mcgl, founder of Giant's Shoulder.
Brian Muraresku and I discuss how human understanding of the relationship between consciousness and the physical world has evolved over the millennia, and why all current physicalist theories still fail to explain even one specific conscious experience.

New #preprint alert with @drmichaellevin, @KaplanLab_Tufts and our team!
We are integrated organisms. What does that mean, especially in the brain, when a body is induced to regrow a missing limb?
4 years ago, we showed that a brief drug cocktail delivered with a bioengineered silk sleeve could induce limb regeneration in animals with limited regenerative capacity.
Now, we find that this same treatment also reshapes the brain’s gene expression landscape, alongside stress response signatures in the limb and changes in brain metabolic programs.
Could sensing the energetic demands of rebuilding a whole patterned limb help coordinate regeneration across an interconnected organism?
What would regenerative medicine look like if brain–body communication guided therapy design from the start?

The vital polarity behind life:
"Animals owe their existence to that attraction. We eat food, break it down into simpler molecules and send those to the mitochondria in our cells, which pry off electrons and let them flow through a string of molecules in their membranes known as the electron transport chain. At each step in this chain, a portion of the electrons’ energy is siphoned off to pump protons across a membrane—Mitchell’s great insight—and the pressure of those protons rushing back through a molecular turbine is what makes ATP. At the end of the chain, oxygen accepts the electrons and, together with protons, becomes water."
A radical new theory about energy and mitochondria could explain chronic disease and aging.

Replace me from what? A dad, no. A husband, no. From a career I’d like to walk away from, or elevate to the point it’s not back breaking, absolutely. We all will not get the chance to see a billion dollars. Hell, not even a few hundred thousand is in the cards for many. However, if AI can become the most productive source of resources and services, that leaves time for us to have time. A chance for the money we do make to go further, to buy more. And to be a father and husband that billions can bring, at a scale no one has ever seen. That’s what we need: our current money to go further, and time to watch our families grow.
