Leach scouted for the Wings through all 4 Cup wins and scouted for the Stars in years where they’ve drafted players like Wyatt Johnston, Logan Stankoven, Thomas Harley, Jason Robertson, and Roope Hintz. Very nice!
Sounds like Mark Leach, longtime Stars and prior longtime Red Wings amateur scout, is going to end up back with Detroit after he was let go by Toronto this past summer

Our coverage of Red Wings preseason for the last two games will look a little different…as in pretty much nonexistent 😅 Today is a travel day for us as we gear up for the Griffins two preseason games in Toledo on Saturday & Sunday! Plus we plan on taking advantage of the time and have a boys night at Cedar Point planned for one last night of fun before hockey begins! (Yes we will have content from that as well 😂) Make sure you’re following @LGRWProspects for highlights! #GoGRG #LGRW

Greg is always on it with these press conferences. Here’s a quick digestible version if you missed it today:
Shawn Horcoff Presser Notes 9.16.26 - Dylan Larkin is injured... - On Edvinsson, Simon is a priority, they will work on it as soon as they can. - Can this dragging on become a distraction? They are a better team with Larkin and will take it day by day - Is the plan to go all season without a captain? That will work its way out. Lots of guys in the room can step up, they want it to come from multiple people. - Can Horcoff trade Larkin? Yes. Chris gave him full authority. - On Alex DeBrincat, Alex had a fantastic player, had a great season, they rely on him, and he's a local guy. They will get to Alex shortly, but there is no timetable with him. They would like it to get done, though - Chris said there is a clear vision, what is it? Shawn said it's a long-term vision, but they align. Given the situation, Horcoff wants to focus on the short term. - Todd talked about "jerseys" last season, does Shawn agree? He says he wants to focus on this season. There was noise this summer that things aren't getting done, he wants to make it clear that a lot is going on behind the scenes. - On Horcoff's leadership philosophy. He's excited about roster construction, expects camp to be super competitive, and for guys to challenge for spots and time. High expectations. - Does the team need another rebuild? How do you approach the season not knowing if it meets the next leader's vision? The approach is here and now and needs to make the decisions for the betterment of the team. The goal is no different than normal. There are too many good players to rebuild. They are looking forward and have what it takes to get over the hump. - Are there changes to other positions? Yes, there will be some shuffling and changes to positions. - Is there a 23-man roster in his mind? They want the internal competition, and they have an idea of who will push, they will give them every opportunity. - Feelings on Todd? They have been talking and know what they need to do and where they need to make changes. - What has it been like for him the past few weeks? As summer progressed, the day-to-day fell more to him. In terms of trades, ops is still here, they weren't waiting for direction, they were moving forward. - Does he view this as an interview? Absolutely. The job is to listen and to support. They have a ton of capable staff, he wants to hear their ideas. Focus on the day-to-day and get results. - Back to Larkin, is he still a leader on the team? Sidesteps by saying everyone is a leader. Great deflection. - When will the time be right to deal with a Larkin trade? The time is the time. It will stay private. - What can Horcoff bring that the org was lacking? Says it's unfair to talk about the difference between him and Yzerman, prefers to pick fights he can win. He thinks the world of Steve, and he left the org with a ton of good players. - Glad to hear Steve is still a part of the org. - This summer the team has been looked at as a joke, how do they navigate? It's all just noise. - In the past, the tie has gone to the vet. Knowing the GR pool, could that change? The question is not whether they get a shot, it's whether they're ready. The league is getting younger, and they have to look at that. And their guys aren't super young anymore. They want them to play and impact the team as soon as possible, but they have to contribute And that wraps the interview, a bit of a weird one, but Shawn seems like he is ready to go. Let's see what he's got! #LGRW #RedWings
