Governor DeSantis says Americans are rejecting AI Data Centers because of what they represent. “It represents a future that a lot of people don't find appealing. And how can you blame them? Talk to the tech CEOs about what AI is going to do. Well, it's going to cause half the people to lose their job. Because we're told we've got to build these things, right? We've got to beat China. And a lot of people are like, okay, we have to build these so that half of us lose our jobs? Is that what you're telling me?”

A French town built around a steel plant now feeds its schoolkids entirely organic food. Grande-Synthe, near Dunkirk, switched its school canteens to fully organic meals without charging its mostly modest income families more. The town leases its own land to organic market gardeners, and growers placed there since 2018 now supply the school kitchens. A farm near you could feed your own table the same way, find one on Localize. Sources: ConsoGlobe, L'Info Durable

The USDA paid 14,000 dairy farmers to slaughter or export their whole herds and quit. The 1986 Whole Herd Buyout sent about 1.62 million dairy cattle to slaughter or export. It paid out roughly 1.8 billion dollars, funded partly by a milk assessment on dairies that kept milking. The small dairies still around today are the ones that survived that purge. Governor DeSantis says Democrats have outflanked Republicans on AI Data Centers and Flock cameras. DeSantis says if Republicans don’t get with it younger voters will chose Democratic Socialism and Mamdani over crony capitalism every day of the week. “Republicans go into the next election cycle, if the Dems are on offense on this, they're going to be able to get voters who traditionally have been more conservative. See, during the Biden years, if you were center right, they weren't offering anything for you. And it was woke this, woke that. Well, if they're going to now go, hey, we're going to we're going to stand up for you and protect you against some of the excesses of big tech. The flock cameras, you know, I ordered those down off the deck because, you know, we used to have license plate readers like a toll booth and they would send you things. Now they're collecting all the data of everyone that passes that camera and they know you go to Wawa twice a week and all that. What the hell do they have a right? A private company be collecting this data. So there's the issue sets are changing. And I just think Republicans need to be wise to that. We do best as a party when we are standing for small business folks, people that are working hard. When we get into corporatism, that's when you really start to lose people. Don't be a corporatist. Don't just be aligned with a handful of big companies. Don't be a crony capitalist. You know, the best way to end up in a socialist country is to push crony capitalism, because that will take all these young people. They're going to choose Mindami over a crony capitalist any day of the week.”

Long post worth the read. I have a close friend who flies private jets. He flew Lear 60 for over 15 years and now flies a Gulfstream. This is a copy and paste of his response to me asking him if I thought Ice was the issue. “We always fly in ridiculous cold temperatures.” “Usually you get the bad ice when the temperatures are like 0 to negative 20. Believe it or not, there's a point where it gets too cold for ice. At negative 40, you pretty much can't get ice. Besides that, the airplane is equipped with hot wings and hot tail.” “I flew the Lear 60 for like 15 years. It's a no joke airplane and probably the most dangerous airplane I've ever flown. It has a super critical wing. The airflow has to be perfect. When it gets into rough air and turbulence, it will easily stall. It has stalled on me at 41,000 feet just because we got into some turbulence. (On the way to Palm Beach as a matter of fact. ) we recovered and got her flying again around 30,000 ft. Scary But here's the problem. This airplane has a terrible coffin corner. (At high altitudes) what that means is, you fly in a really narrow window where if you lose 20 knots, it stalls. And if you gain 20 knots, it goes into overspeed. The air goes supersonic over the wing and it goes into a high speed stall, or worse, a Mach tuck. So if you stall, the normal recovery is to push the yoke forward to lower the nose and gain air speed again. At low altitude, you can push really hard and recover quickly. But in the 60... if you push hard, it will gain air speed and go into a high speed stall, it doesn't take much. It's very sensitive. The 60 has super short wings that don't make much lift. So then you high speed stall, and the computer is yelling at you... OVERSPEED! So then you pull back and enter a low speed stall. And you go back and forth trying to keep it in the air speed window. This whole thing is pretty scary. And you should recover basically by using your finger tips using super small corrections. You can't over do it. If you try to muscle the recovery, she gets mad and will become unrecoverable. If she enters a mach tuck. You're done.” “I taught the Lear 60 to other pilots and mentored them. I told them... this airplane has a soul and it's trying to kill you. Do not ever try to top the weather. Don't go over a thunderstorm. Go around it. If it means a half hour longer, then do it. Going over the thunderstorm will go into turbulence that you might not recover from. These pilots went right over a thunderstorm. I think it stalled which caused them to drop down into the thunderstorm and ended up in mach tuck. They picked up so much speed that it ripped off the horizontal stabilizer. At that point... chuck Yeager can't fix it. These same pilots did something similar a couple months ago. ATC got mad at them. They poked the bear one too many times. This is not a beginner airplane. The Gulfstream would never do this. It has HUGE margins of error and won't stall like that. But then again... it's got HUGE wings. It's a pussy cat. The Gulfstream is like driving a 4 wheeler. The Lear 60 is like riding a uni cycle.”

Governor DeSantis BLASTS Kristi Noem for bungling mass deportations and turning it into a shit show for her own glory. DeSantis BLASTS Congressmen like Byron Donalds for making millions on the stock market. DeSantis BLASTS Alina Habba for getting a $10 million government contract and securing a presidential pardon for her boyfriend. “If the people in office don't display some civic virtue about public service as a sacrifice. It's not to use the public office for private gain. I declined the pension in Congress. I declined the health care. I didn't trade the stocks. And I believe in congressional term limits. I mean, imagine if you went to the American people and actually tried to get that done. That's not right or left. That's something that a lot of people realize.. These guys work for themselves. They should be working for you.”

Bill Clinton on Trump: I've known President Trump a long time. We used to have quite a friendly relationship 24 years ago. We'd play golf. He kept saying, "We're the biggest, strongest, richest country in the world. Why don't we just put a bunch of tariffs on everybody else and stop paying taxes altogether?" I said, "Well, because, Don" — he was Donald then, not Mr. President — "because these people don't just eat the tariffs. They just charge the people who buy the stuff, whatever it is. So we pay the tariffs." And he, just like now, didn't hear what he didn't want to hear.

SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS PHARMACY EXECUTIVES, BUT I’M DONE. I just went to pick up a basic $15 generic prescription at the drive-thru. The register rang it up as $85. When I asked why the price jumped 5x, the pharmacist looked at me and whispered: "That’s your health insurance copay price. If you pay cash without using your insurance card, it’s $12." ABSOLUTELY NOT. You inflated the cost by 600%, hid the real cash price behind an insurance system, and tried to force me to pay MORE just because I carry health coverage? If I’m paying monthly insurance premiums, my prescription should be cheaper, not a markup scheme for corporate middlemen.

Two Italian students turned citrus waste into silk soft enough for Ferragamo. Adriana Santanocito and Enrica Arena dreamed up the idea in Milan in 2011, while Santanocito was writing her fashion thesis. Italy's juice industry tosses out more than 700,000 tons of citrus peel and pulp a year. Ferragamo turned their fabric into a full capsule collection on Earth Day 2017. Back the growers behind your citrus, not the waste stream, on Localize. Sources: V&A, fibre2fashion

Paul McCartney and his brother Mike, a friendship that transcended fame. Mike McCartney, Paul’s younger brother, built a career of his own in music and photography under the stage name Mike McGear, always seeking to step out of his brother’s shadow. He co-founded The Scaffold in 1962, and in 1974 released his album “McGear” with none other than Paul and Wings as his backing band. Having grown up together in Liverpool, the brothers always maintained a close bond. Paul was Mike’s best man at his wedding, and although he rarely speaks publicly about him, when he does, it’s always with genuine affection.

Maryland just became the first state to ban HOAs from forcing out pollinator gardens for turf grass. Janet and Jeff Crouch fought their Columbia HOA three years after it ordered their native yard torn out for turf in 2017. Janet's lobbying helped pass a 2021 law barring HOAs from blocking pollinator gardens, rain gardens, and xeriscaping. Support growers who plant for pollinators by finding them near you on Localize.
