Hey Paul, what are the chances that you’ll be able to ignore all those who will declare we will all suffer physical and mental harm when the clocks change?

Since it’s a relatively pleasant Sunday evening, if you head outside and look to the east, you’ll see the full Harvest Moon, which also serves as a nice beacon directing you to see the planet Saturn to its right! (Image credit: @earthskyscience)

(Sunday, 10/25) Here’s your first reminder: NEXT weekend we go back onto Eastern Standard Time. Saturday night, you’ll set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed…I guess that means the kids get an extra hour of eating candy…and we all get an extra hour of sleep.

Species migration is indeed another big indicator. And therein lies a problem for some birds, who time their traditional migration with the timing of plants producing seeds: the changing of the plants’ flowering times means there’s less food available for the traveling birds.

I've also noticed the return of certain birds in the spring occurring earlier. Also, not as many cardinals, as if they hang out further north.

There are many ways. The most common refrain I hear is “winters aren’t like they used to be.” People are definitely noticing the increase in the most extreme precipitation events. More subtly, I have certain perennials that bloom nearly a month earlier than they did 34 years ago.
How would the avg person have any way of knowing whether any particular experience was due to the effects of global warming? People experience weather—the temperature, rain, wind, storms on a given day or season. Climate is the long-term statistical avg of weather spanning... 1/

With the mid-term elections coming up, the scientists at @ClimateCentral did something interesting: they computed the temperature change since 1970 for every congressional district. And every single district has experienced warming…highest in the southwest. (Cont.➡️)

(Cont.) And yet, despite human-caused climate change accounting for 91% of the warming on average in each district, only 47% of U.S. adults believe that they have personally experienced the effects of global warming. 🤔

(7:15am Wednesday) The annual Orionid Meteor Shower peaks today…best time to look is between 4:00am and dawn Thursday morning. Expect perhaps 10-20 meteors per hour…grape-nuts size pieces of rock hitting our atmosphere at ~150,000 mph. Image from spaceweather.com!

Hey @HP - after THREE hours troubleshooting a printer error message, your people say I have to call you because the problem is on your end. I logged in on your website, as instructed, but there is no number to call. I NEED TO SPEAK TO YOU ASSP. Please advise. Thank you.

On this date (October 19th) in 1989, 2.7 inches of snow was officially recorded at Metro Airport. This is the earliest snowfall of the season greater than one inch in recorded Detroit weather history!

(11:30am Tue) This is remarkable…look how long the jet stream stays well to our north as an Omega Block develops (the pattern resembling the Greek letter omega - which is slow to break down). The animation goes from today to next Wednesday, when temps finally return to normal.

Same! This snow occurred about a year before my wedding. My fiancé (now wife) looked at me and said - and this is a direct quote: “If this happens one year from now, I’m saying “I don’t” instead of “I do!” 🤣
From a freaky retrograding cold core low that later brought snow to Milwaukee, where I was packing to move to my new job doing weather in Detroit. Memories!!!

Many decades from now, Putin will be universally regarded by historians as among the most evil men to ever inhabit Earth.
Another Russian ballistic missile attack came in several waves overnight, and once again, there was no early warning from our partners. They again targeted energy facilities and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged. In total, the Russians launched 16 ballistic missiles in a deliberate attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Russians also launched more than 200 drones of various types, including jet-powered “shaheds,” with attacks spanning from the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions to the Volyn, Rivne, and Odesa regions. Sadly, there are casualties. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Those who were injured are receiving assistance. Overnight and this morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa, and Rivne regions. In this one night alone, more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, and the lights went out for at least 550,000 families. Repair crews are working at the sites. Ukraine never wanted this war, and we have welcomed literally EVERY attempt by our partners to bring this war to a dignified end. We have responded positively to EVERY ceasefire proposal. Russia's response, time and again, has been ballistic missiles, “shaheds,” and killings. Putin not only doesn't want to end this war – he doesn't even want to take any steps toward de-escalation. EVERY ONE of our partners has experienced this firsthand when they heard Russia's refusals. And it is crucial to call things what they are. To call the aggressor an aggressor and help Ukraine defend lives. When deliveries of missiles for Ukraine's air defense are blocked while Russia is granted relief or delays in sanctions, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality on the part of our partners. The reality is that the war continues, and it continues solely because of Russian strikes and Russia's desire to drag this war out. I thank everyone who recognizes this reality and helps Ukraine!

You continually cherry-pick data to support your political ideology, and leave out important perspective to mislead the American public. First, I don’t recall any peer reviewed paper saying that global warming causes more overall hurricanes…so your post is old news. (Cont.➡️)
173 YEARS OF U.S. HURRICANE HISTORY. THE DATA SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. Since 1851, the United States has experienced no statistically significant long-term increase in hurricane landfalls. Not in total hurricane strikes. Not in major Category 3–5 hurricane strikes. The 1941–1950 decade recorded 24 hurricane strikes, including 10 major hurricanes. No subsequent decade has exceeded those totals. Even NOAA acknowledges there is no strong evidence of a century-scale increasing trend in U.S. landfalling hurricanes or major hurricanes. The oceans and atmosphere have warmed, yet the historical U.S. landfall record does NOT demonstrate an increase in hurricane frequency or major-hurricane landfalls attributable to that warming. A warming climate does not automatically mean more hurricanes striking America. An enormous thank-you to Michael Ferragamo (@FerragamoWx) for painstakingly hand-plotting 173 years of hurricane landfalls. A remarkable graphic that puts modern headlines into historical perspective. Science requires observations, not just predictions.

(Cont.) …poorest at predicting rapid intensification, this is a big deal. Third, global warming is putting more water vapor into the atmosphere…so hurricanes are dropping even more rain. But you don’t want Americans to know this, which shows just how misleading your post is.
