On this date in 1967, Warner Bros. released “Camelot,” an adaptation of the stage musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe. Starring Richard Harris as King Arthur, Vanessa Redgrave as Guenevere, Franco Nero as Lancelot, and David Hemmings as Mordred, the picture didn’t exactly delight contemporary critics but made quite a lot of money.
To those who never saw the original stage or touring shows, it also introduced to the popular consciousness such delightful songs as “Camelot” and “How To Handle a Woman” (originally performed on Broadway by Richard Burton) and “C’est Moi" and “If Ever I Would Leave You” (originally sung on stage by Robert Goulet, and dubbed in the film by Gene Merlino).
When approached to reprise his Arthur for the screen, Richard Burton asked for too much money. The original Guenevere, Julie Andrews, declined to play her in the movie (she’d previously been passed over for another Lerner-Loewe adaptation, “My Fair Lady”).
Although the musical was written long before the election of John F. Kennedy, partisans of the administration identified it with Camelot, before and after JFK’s assassination. Years later, when Joshua Logan directed the film version, some tried to find political statements about Vietnam and such in his movie, but that’s a stretch. “Camelot” is a reasonably faithful adaption of the show, with Harris doing his own thing as the king and Redgrave falling far short (in my opinion) of the Andrews mark in performing Guenevere’s signature songs.
The picture was nominated for five Oscars and won three: for art direction, costume design, and musical score.

Evidence against wealth taxes is stronger than ever, explains Cato Institute’s @adamnmichel.
Wealth taxes promise redistribution but more often deliver high economic costs, administrative complexity, and disappointing revenue.

🚨 ROLL CALL: The Massachusetts House just voted down an amendment to suspend the 24-cent gas tax for 60 days.
The vote: 30 YES, 121 NO.
In a recent poll, nearly 7 in 10 Massachusetts residents support temporary gas tax relief, but House leaders said no.
Remember this roll call. Taxpayers asked for relief. Beacon Hill chose to keep collecting. ⛽

Elon Musk is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Elizabeth Warren wants to police who can buy a mayonnaise company. One is creating the future. The other is trying to control the marketplace. America needs more entrepreneurs and a lot less government meddling.

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.
The taxpayers of Washington State have an opportunity to save themselves and their wonderful state…the initiative process.
The democrat state legislature keeps voting in higher taxes and even taxes (income tax) prohibited by the state constitution. Sadly they have a very democrat/left wing “Supreme Court” that cheerfully ignores those naughty bits of the constitution that protect civil liberties and citizens from such taxation.
Yes. Many are leaving Washington. But some are staying to fight.
They deserve everyone’s support…see Project 42

The new left wants to make sure no one works for themselves, everyone has to have a boss. And union bosses have first crack at you. Americans should be able to be their own bosses.
