Has anyone been able to geolocate this video, which appears to feature white dudes with seemingly American accents in military uniform in a Tigrinya-speaking area? Looks like someone is using foreign contractors...

Ethiopia's army is huge on paper, which is the problem: Abiy's army is basically a PDF. 😅
Outside help in Tigray isn't new either. Just ask Italy how that went at Adwa. Now he's shopping for backup everywhere, and if nukes had Prime shipping, he'd have ordered one already. @AbiyAhmedAli @reda_getachew

New reporting suggests that 7 Israeli technicians arrived in Nyala this weekend to operate and train RSF on the use of a Chinese-made air defense system provided by the UAE to secure the airspace from SAF drone attacks. Just another step in the escalation of the war.

So striking that nothing else, but the fact that these powers seeing Tigray as a testing ground, could explain the events and conspiracies. tghat.com/2023/03/01/tigray-…

We've known that drones that devastated Tigray during the first phase of the war were operated by foreign mercenaries based out of Eritrea’s Assab port.
Throughout the war, we also witnessed seemingly diametrically opposed global powers....

Not so bizarre, given what we have witnessed over the past six years. Tigray and Ethiopia have been a playground for technological and political experimentation by all manner of actors and forces for nearly a decade now.

Lol just some guys on safari... in a Tigrinya-speaking area, in camo and carrying radios that state security officials would normally immediately confiscate without clear permission from state authorities.
Apparently, you can’t just walk around minding your own god-damned business as a white guy on a safari trip in Ethiopia nowadays, wearing khaki with your pals.
You’ll end up on the news, being called a mercenary and foreign contractor working for @AbiyAhmedAli, and accused of carrying out drone attacks on substations and fuel depots in Sudan.

97 drones launched from Ethiopia carried out 28 attacks against civilian and military targets inside Sudan last month alone. Sudan has been been calling this out since it started last year. This report makes clear that Ethiopia has been fully instrumentalized as a tool in the UAE aggression in Sudan. And yet. No action has been taken. No Security Council session. No independent Panel of Experts report. UN transparency and accountability mechanisms have broken down or been bought off or both. It reminds me of Sudan's report two years ago to the Security Council that first alleged a UAE role supporting the RSF via Chad. That report went nowhere. No public hearing because Emirati officials strong-armed Security Council diplomats into burying the report. Two years later the war is even worse, the UAE role even more expansive, and the Sudanese still collecting intelligence on the regional war being fought against them. Mind you, the SAF are no angels. They have carried out their own internal crimes, have supported the TPLF to varying degrees and may have even allowed their drones to be used against targets inside Ethiopia, though Addis has not done a sufficient job providing conclusive evidence of that. The fact is that for all the condemnations that the UN makes about failures of the parties in Sudan's war to sign a ceasefire and protect civilians, those same parties have an equally powerful argument to make against the UN for completely failing in its mandate to report on the conflict, investigate its crimes and hold parties accountable.

More than 60 Christians have been killed in a series of attacks by armed militants across three areas of Ethiopia’s Shirka district in the Oromia region. Local authorities blamed a rebel coalition that includes the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA).
At least five children were among those killed, while 20 homes were burned to the ground. A resident whose 75-year-old father was murdered said armed attackers surrounded the community from all four directions, catching residents completely off guard.

Sudan has been accusing Ethiopia of facilitating drone attacks on Sudanese targets since early this year- now more formally calling for the UN & others to investigate. Meanwhile, the UN Panel of Experts last report has yet to be published due to UAE objections over its content.

News: #WHO chief warns continued violence in #Amhara, #Tigray pushing #Ethiopia’s fragile health system toward collapse
Addis Abeba — World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General #Tedros_Adhanom Ghebreyesus (PhD) has warned that attacks on civilians in Ethiopia’s Amhara and Tigray regions are further straining an already fragile health system, following recent drone strikes that reportedly killed civilians, including children, at a displacement camp and in a town in northern Ethiopia.
In a social media post, Tedros described reports of civilian casualties in the two regions as “deeply disturbing,” highlighting the killing of children, including a newborn, in an attack on the #Jaari 2 displacement camp in Amhara, and several people reportedly killed while gathering food in #Rama town, Tigray.
