You might be tempted to think that the ANC is failing now because the talent of it's deployees in government has deteriorated, or they've been overtaken by criminals and fraudsters.
The truth is that they haven't changed at all. They have always been this crap.
The only thing that has changed is that the momentum of governance and management and process that they inherited in 1994 has slowly been winding down over the last 30 years and has finally ground to a halt.
The "institutional memory" that allowed government departments and SOEs to run on autopilot while they hardly ever replaced anyone based on merit rather than political connection has finally faded.
The processes and systems have become outdated and forgotten with time, never adapting to changing circumstances.
The old white guys that were sidelined but stuck around to keep things going, or who worked as outside consultants doing all the real work, have aged out.
This is why a police station or a post office looks and runs exactly like it did 30 years ago. Now extend that to the whole of government. Home Affairs is a good case study. It was also coasting on 1994 systems until recently, and you can see how starkly a year or two of having a leadership that actually does it's job contrasts it with other departments.
So you're not seeing any difference in the fundamental capability of the ANC to run the country, you're just seeing the natural dissipation of institutional competence that hasn't been topped up for three decades and now the tank is empty.

People heavily underestimate the devastating impact of political illiteracy across Africa.
It is the single greatest bottleneck to Africa's advancement.
In South Africa: You have grown adults who genuinely believe that if the ANC is voted out of power, apartheid will magically return overnight.
In Zimbabwe: You have adults completely convinced that colonization will return the exact moment they vote out ZANU-PF.
In the DRC: You have citizens who believe they are spiritually destined to be poor and fight in the bushes forever, all because of Belgian exploitation that ended generations ago.
This is a total absence of critical thinking. The cognitive shallowness and logical bankruptcy are glaring.
Millions of people have absolutely zero knowledge of how modern systems, economics, or governance actually work. They are driven entirely by state-sponsored phantom fears and manufactured trauma.
Closing this massive information and knowledge gap through aggressive, logical education is the most critical investment Africa can make right now.
You cannot build a modern economy, enforce the rule of law, or do anything of global significance with minds that are still held hostage by cheap political fairy tales.

You are living a lie.
If you look at Cape Town, DA spends 75% of their R40+Bn capital (infrastructure) budget on townships. The rest of the 25% goes to urban area.
DA run townships receive better and reliable services than townships run by any other person. Former statistician general Pali Lekgotla confirmed that in the Power to the Truth Podcast where Zille was a guest.
Good bye

Effective from the 1st of January 2027, South Africa will be removed from AGOA, which will result in over 70k job losses. Guess what is finding this move by the U.S. government fascinating!
The same racist ANC and EFF comrades, they never cared about the poor.
This was a response after muslisms came together to hold media briefings condemning the 30 June immigration protests. Before that, South Africans weren't even aware that Islam exists
Following the playbook of the international right, the xenophobia that has been manufactured in South Africa is rapidly turning into Islamophobia, and the same online tactics are being used, writes Imraan Buccus.

There is a term in isiXhosa that goes, “ilifa lezidenge lityiwa zizilumko”, loosely translated as, “the inheritance of fools often benefits the wise”. By the time the fools wake up, the resources will be depleted leaving behind abject poverty that is permanent. Look at Kimberley.

Building what for SA? What factories? what beneficiation? It’s building its own extended Chinese economy in SA. But it’s the fault of this government not theirs for allowing it.

SA’s preferred trade partner China, is destroying SA’s car manufacturing and clothing industries, acquiring SA mines and keeping mining an exclusively extractive industry, illegally fishing our waters and depleting to the point of extinction our Donkey population. Good partners?
This is so gross. Not only does Rebecca seek to paint all white people as inherently racist, but she also seems to think that anyone with white South African parents were also raised "steeped in the hatred of apartheid".
This is actual racism @becsplanb - you are projecting.

2/2 My parents are actually not South African and I was not raised steeped in the hatred of apartheid, unlike you. And I still stand by everything that I said in that decade-plus old video. And it STILL applies to me too. Love ya, good luck in the LGE xx

South Africa has 26 public universities, but growing capacity constraints are creating opportunities for private institutions to expand access to higher education.
A major example is Akademia’s R3.2 billion university campus in Pretoria East, funded entirely through private capital and community donations, without government subsidies.
Construction began in January 2026, with the first students expected in January 2028.
The 220-hectare campus will have independent solar and water infrastructure, accommodate 6,500 full-time students and introduce new faculties in engineering and medical sciences.

How about an attitude of: “If they can do it, we can do it too.”
But instead you choose an attitude of:
“If they build it, we will take it.”
And one day you will not be able to tell your children: “Look what we built,” but instead, “Look what we took.”
Does that make you proud?

Unpopular Opinion:
The way the majority of South Africans vote, show up for work, demand bribes, are corrupt & loot where they can... South Africa should be worse than Zimbabwe.
We're being held up by some big businesses & a segment of the middle class... that insist on trying to keep this country afloat, pay taxes, work hard, build & serve.
Without them... most of South Africa would look worse than townships.
The mindsets are broken. And, at this point, I honestly don't see people getting better... I see them getting worse. It's starting to hurt me less & less.
