I don’t see this talked about on the TL
But it’s crazy, these massive orgs have dedicated teams building out software to compete against your product
It’s free and still adoption is a pain in the ass
And you’ll find employees who still want to use other vendors
Folks,
I left Microsoft three months ago to start my own company. Two weeks after I left, my whole team in Australia was let go.
I see the hurt it’s causing my ex-colleagues, their families and their kids. Layoffs, forced relocations, PIPs. It’s brutal and I don’t want to brush past that.
But here’s my honest take.
Microsoft needs fewer people.
I’ve been on the inside. I’ve seen how things get built. Lots of small orgs. Layers on layers. Silos everywhere.
Here’s a real example.
The Entra team shipped managed identities back in 2017. No more secrets in code. A clear security win.
Then they tried to get the rest of Microsoft to adopt it. Very few teams did, and the ones that did moved at a snail’s pace. Every org had its own priorities and its own decision makers.
It took Microsoft getting hacked, and the Secure Future Initiative that followed, before things really moved.
Today almost every Microsoft app and service supports managed identity.
Six years, and a major breach, to get there.
In a world with agents and fewer people, that rollout would be possible across Microsoft in months, not years.
Microsoft already has everything else. The customers. The infrastructure. The scale.
What it needs is fewer people, leaning hard into agentic work.
Right now OpenAI and Anthropic are shipping at a pace Microsoft can’t match.
Microsoft has to change to survive.
Day 3 of not eating until I book a meeting

Day 1 booked a meeting afternoon was rough
Day 2 no meeting whole day balls to the wall (ate after work)
Day 3 today booked a meeting early morning ✊

So let me get this straight.
- VC funds Company A.
- Company A uses that capital to buy AI services from Company B.
- Company B uses that revenue to justify a higher ARR multiple and raise more capital.
- Company B spends its new funding on AI services from Company C.
Rinse and repeat.
If the estimates are accurate, roughly 70–75% of AI spending is coming from unprofitable, VC-backed companies.
How much of the AI industry’s explosive revenue growth is ultimately just venture capital circulating between companies?
And more importantly, how much of today’s AI valuations are being supported by revenue that disappears when the funding cycle slows?
1% of companies represent 90% of AI spending.
Of that 90%, 80% of this spend are from unprofitable VC backed companies.
So, roughly, $0.70-75 of every dollar of AI spending right now comes from AI companies spending VC investment dollars.
As a result, the revenue quality in AI is currently poor. This happened in previous cycles as well, like cloud when early users of AWS were mostly venture backed startups.
The thing, though, is that before AWS could scale and pull thru GCP and others as legitimate cash machines, there were a few clearing events to sort out these brittle revenues.
This is the extrapolation of Ken’s point. We will need to transition from speculative AI spending to consistent, reliable spend that shows up in public market earnings reports.
This hasn’t happened yet because most of the breathtaking revenue growth comes from LPs investing in VC funds who then send it to startups.
Is the whole YC ecosystem just a fake circle jerk circular economy entirely dependent on venture financing?
Company raises 3 million gets 40k mrr raises another round at 30m valuation
But 80% of customers are other seed stage startups, came through YC network

people keep telling me ai would write better if i just gave it the outcome, the structure, the details and the context to pull from
i've tried all of it. it still doesn't sound like me
i think the people saying this have never read a fucking book
you read certain authors and you know it's them in a paragraph. content doesn't need to be novel quality, but every person's voice has something unique in it, and ai squashes it every time
it reverts to the mean because that's what it was trained on. all the slop people wrote before ai existed
why does ai writing suck? because most people suck at writing, and it learned from most people
i'm more disillusioned with ai writing than ever. the tips and tricks are bullshit – at Huntersville, NC
I know Alex is super bullish on AI video for ads content etc even movies
But people still have to consume it
And this is garbageeee why would anyone want to watch something like this
“AI will only get better” copium

FYI (for salespeople) asking "any hesitations with moving me forward?" at the end of a job interview reduces your odds of advancing.
Is data brokering already pumped? Starting to see the courses hit
Once the 5 day challenge is here ig it’s officially done

only took me 15 minutes to get the average "cold calling a woman in her 20s" call word for word
" Who is this? How did you get my number? I don't like that you're calling me, please remove me from your list"
literally everytime

Before dots, we used to book flights and hotels in 10 minutes.
Now with dots, we can still book flights and hotels in 10 minutes + have an unnecessary robotic conversation with a bot 😂
Regret switching my $100 plan from Claude to Chat
Every month the pendulum swings
just to recap OpenAI’s DevDay…
- GPT 6.1 SOL is worse than Opus 5.5
- dots is their competitive answer to Grok Bot and Muse (shall see how good, it botched its own demo)
- your $200 plan is no longer a 20x
- a $500 plan is now a 25x
now plz explain to me why Tibo was shouting DevDay for weeks straight
insane amounts of mental gymnastics and arrogance going on at OpenAI just to call today a win

I have one client selling into ent and mid market that I can book 1-2 meetings a day sometimes. Usually 2 a week minimum.
I have other clients where 1 meeting in a week feels like God took pity on me and wanted to send me some relief.
Offer and target market really is everything
It is irresponsible to not give your SDRs api keys to every single tool you have #happylaborday 🍺✊
