Took a cow to the sale barn and saw legendary hauler Curt Wallace. Still at it at age 82. Dock staff said he loads the trailer FULL. 😎💪 His pickup always had a bug deflector that said “Mini Semi.” Always a gooseneck guy. No fancy bull rack like @cameron_korth and his crew.

55 yrs ago today, I went La Crosse, WI for 11 days & found out I have Type 1 diabetes. Got to watch construction equipment as the building in ⭕️ was built. Began my gig as a medical spokesmodel, too. Far fewer shots in footie pajamas now. Better treatment, but no cure yet.

Grandma went to play bingo. She said she was taking her friends Tom Collins and Harvey Wallbanger with her.

New menu item from international BBQ star Thyron Mathews at OctoberFest in Waverly today. Chimichurri Pork Chop On A Stick. Tremendous flavor! You need to sample his work. Got to spend some time with T today. He’s the best food ambassador farmers could ask for, no doubt.

Filled the F250 with E85 today. Smart car waited behind me. Tank on psngr side. He circled around, got in a huff - his tank was now on the wrong side. Yellow truck was then behind me. The other hose from MY side of the pump probably would have reached across his entire car. 😁

That cow wraps up my 45th season of using A.I. in my commercial cows. It’s also what would be my dad’s 96th birthday. He learned the value of A.I. more than 35 years before I did when he worked for a dairy in IL. Find the right people. They will take you where you need to go.

The grain probe was not working today for a sample. I was given a pail to get a sample at the pit instead. When I got back to the office, I showed this Tweet to the scale operator. She had to stifle a laugh, because the repair guy was still there working on the probe.

Deer on Deere violence avoided. He thought about it, but decided he couldn’t bluff me into turning around and getting out of his way.

In a discussion on a Facebook group for brain surgery patients like me, a prospective patient wanted to know how long the procedure has been around. As a longtime DBS veteran, I gave some info and then cited prescient medical humor icon, Gary Larson. 😎

Several hundred trees not far away and Woody Woodpecker decided to use my wood post for rec league practice before he goes to the major league level.

Good neighbors matter. We buried a 3/4” waterline to a pasture ~30 years ago. It filled the tanks on Day 1 of grazing, but not Day 2. Dairy neighbor let me use his water-only tank truck. May bury a new 1-1/2” line to Guy No 1’s house across the road before the next rotation.

Cows are due to start calving a week from today. I moved them to this pasture last Sunday. A third of the calves have been born since then. That’s why I tell people it’s Biology, not Accounting. I’ve still never had a cow leave to go to work for Deloitte, EY, KPMG, or PwC. 😎

Today the herd went from winter drylot to grass. Cows can start calving any moment now to feed people in 2027. Life is better when cattle are on Torpy Hill. @MarketToMarket

Today was 47 years of driving to Ophthalmology at Gundersen in La Crosse. The sun came out in time to drive home. “You’ve been coming to Gundersen since 1980?!?!” No, Ophthalmology since 1980. Here’s my 1st Gundersen visit in 1971. “😂 That pic has a 1970’s feel to it!”
