#NationalBlackCatDay arrives on 27 October. In some cultures black cats are thought to attract love as well as good fortune, especially for women. #FairyTaleTuesday #Halloween #Samhain Image: Jane Newland

This Faust is a gothic treat!
Nothing beats German Expressionism. More than a century separates this film from the age of AI.

#FolkloreSunday: Halloween magic. Vintage photo, 1920s. A (glamorous) witch flies on her broom. A black owl perches on a crescent moon. Recognize the witch? That's Joan Crawford. Before she became a star. #Halloween #Halloween2026 #Halloweenmagic #witch #vintagephoto #1920s

After watching @Jeanna350 GIF about the retro movie Army of Darkness / Evil Dead 3 🩻 ~ I decided to watch it yesterday. I like the Gothic horror theme, and the film felt like a mix of dollhouse inhabitants on a rampage, John Cleese style humor and The Nightmare Before Christmas 🤪 Cinema YouTube Nostalgia FilmTwitter Foto: #HorrorNewsNet

YEATS & VAMPIRES The poet W. B. Yeats read about #vampires in Ennemoser's History of Magic 1852. Vampires feature in his poem 'Oil and Blood' 'Under heavy loads of trampled clay Lie bodies of the vampires full of blood; Their shrouds are bloody and their lips are wet' #31DaysOfHalloween

#FolkloreSunday The Halloween holiday has its roots in Samhain, a pagan religious celebration to welcome the harvest at the end of summer, when people would wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor saints.blogs.loc.gov/headlinesandhe…

"Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man is much more a direct sequel to The Wolf Man (1941) than anything else, and its appeal derives mainly from the continuing struggles of unwilling werewolf Larry Talbot, once again played with great sincerity by Lon Chaney, Jr." -Silver Screen Standards shares thoughts on Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943) #TCMParty classicmoviehub.com/blog/sil…

This week marks 60 years since “Monkees in a Ghost Town” first aired on NBC. The Monkeemobile runs out of gas, Mike and Davy disappear, gangsters take over the town, and somehow we're expected to sort the whole thing out. Running out of gas in a ghost town is generally poor tour management. Take note! Here’s another bit of Monkees TV history: when the episode was repeated in 1967, “Tomorrow’s Gonna Be Another Day” was replaced with “Words.” #MickyDolenz #TheMonkees

Buster Keaton, of course.
You can’t say Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jackie Chan, or Bruce Willis. Who’s the greatest action movie star of all time?

It has long been considered lucky to see a robin in your garden, possibly because there is an old belief that robins hold the spirits of loved ones. The saying ‘robins appear when loved ones are near’ surely becomes more special as we head towards winter. #FolkloreSunday
