Curvilinear Versus Radial Sprints-
Apply the right evidence and measurements when running curves. Just doing a sprinkle of reps on the field or the court isn't development.
Using the @StrydSpeed pods is a great learning experience for those wanting to be a "Bend Master".
No timing gates, no start buttons, no complicated setup. Just clip on Stryd Speed and go. Every step and every rep is automatically captured, organized, and analyzed, giving athletes and coaches detailed insights into speed, acceleration, and running mechanics.
Less time setting up. More time unlocking your speed. Join the early access list at stryd.com/speed

"Every radial is a curve; not every curve is radial."
Another great point is that mounting an IMU or sensor around the belt line doesn't track the CoM. That is just a reference point that is a good proxy, but you need to know the difference.
Can't wait to get this rolling with HF Track and Field!

Are you unlocking speed or trying to harness it?

A pretty ridiculous track and field stat is that ZERO of these guys have ran on our 4x1 at the state meet. Most weren’t even in contention 🤷🏻♂️

My feed is full of Olympic lift thoughts…..again….I’d suggest all to Boo and Joel discuss on the last 9 minutes of this podcast. Probably the best summary I’ve ever heard.
The rest of the episode is great too!

Sweep to Reap!
You need to kick out far to wind up for a fast backswing.
It's fine to cue "step over high grass," provided you "slice the grass back" before landing.
Those using @StrydSpeed get instant feedback per rep.
The sharper the swing, the faster the foot speed.
Incredible product. Can’t wait to see where this goes.
Sprint and Speed Coaches -
The Footpath is the ultimate decoder for understanding why you are sprinting the times you are collecting with @StrydSpeed sensors.
Remember, you are getting every rep, so GCT, Air Time, stride length, and instant velocity at every step. 🧵

You have to put this sensor on the Mount Rushmore of sports tech. I have used technology as a coach, athlete, and consultant for 30 years, and this certainly is one of those tools that changes the game.
I have seen this in action with the best in the world, and it delivers.

Appreciation post... 1/?
Back in 2019, I made my first purchase from Ole Olsen's @MuscleLabSystem, the contact grid. I was excited about it, but had no idea:
A. what all it was capable of
B. the world it was going to open me up to... above all, the community of users.

I do not think there is a better sprint protocol for American football than isodynamic resistance.
Best of all worlds.

High jump rant (1/x)
If you attend a high school track meet & focus in on the antepenultimate step (8th step in a 10 step approach), you will see the longitudinal axis of the foot over-rotated in at least 80% of the approaches (image below). 3 reasons for this.
4/x
3. The jumper does not have enough horizontal space to run an effective curve (think "out" mark from the near standard).
I have seen high school males with 10 ft "out" marks. Schexnayder's formula would project this jumper to have a 4.5 ft PR.
