🥟 Yes, I do. But even so, I don’t feel like resting. It’s like this: even when I get exhausted, I don’t want to rest immediately; it’s more like, "I want to rest when the time comes." No matter how busy I am, I’m not busy 24 hours a day, you know. Yet, when the time actually comes to rest, I find myself thinking, "I want to work." Even if it’s a day off, I just can’t sit around and rest. I have to do something. It’s especially like that these days.
👤 That 'anything' is likely something creative, isn’t it?
🥟 That’s right. Actually, I’ve been trying out video work on my own. I had a theme in my head that I wanted to express, and while I was deciding whether to convey it through writing, music, or art, I thought making it into a video would be the best way, so that’s how I started. Wow, but video production is really hard. I don’t rest even on airplanes; I’m always making shot lists and timetables, and even on my days off, I create mood boards... That’s what I’ve been doing lately.
👤 Do you do all those details yourself?
🥟 Yes. I just do everything. I shoot with a Sony FX-3 that I bought about five years ago and haven’t used even once. I go back and forth with my friend, sometimes appearing as the subject myself, and I also edit while sacrificing sleep.
👤 You’re saying you do everything—planning, directing, acting, and even editing? Video editing is truly a black hole that sucks you in time.
🥟 I really stay up all night for days doing this. Sometimes even I wonder, 'Why am I doing this?' (Laughs) But I just keep doing it anyway, whether I get good results or not. I’ve actually thought about it. It’s okay if the videos I make like this never get released to the world. Putting the end result aside, I’m just someone who has to do this. Someone who wants to do this kind of work.
