What do I have to do to get the Trader Joe’s inside the Queensboro Bridge recognized as the 8th wonder of the world?

70% of households in Paris no longer own a car. Commuting overwhelmingly now takes place on transit and by bike. I recall cycling in Paris 20 years ago and we were persona non grata. We took our lives into our own hands.
But not today - Mayor @Anne_Hidalgo is transforming the cost of urban living - household transportation costs have plummeted as folks have ditched their cars for bikes. Both air quality and the overall health of the population in the French capital has improved too. How did she do it? She rapidly built out infrastructure to increase transportation choice, instead of railroading everyone into a single occupancy vehicle.
By providing safe and comprehensive cycling infrastructure, she transformed mobility choices.

“Protected bike lanes and bus lanes are not a frill… they are a life saving measure.” - @SecretaryPete
what's really amazing about this map is that two avenues are paved with brick, and one with granite - and almost all the rest of the streets are wood!
and yet the "modal shift" is happening anyway!
“Our concern is that we’re putting all of our eggs in the electric car basket while ignoring the importance and the potential of modal shift.”

Well, what do you know. People in urban areas don’t like looking at cars. Thanks, #tufts biometric scientists!
What do they like? Hmmm: trees, bushes, front porches. Who would have suspected?
Thanks @JoeUrbanThree!

Cities don’t need decades to change. If there’s political willpower, it can be done.
