Hockey in Atlanta? But it has failed twice before....
The tired narrative is "Atlanta has had two hockey teams already, why do they need a third?" People that say this don't realize the first team (Flames) was here in the 70s. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to realize a hockey team downtown at that time wasn't going to succeed.
The second run were the Thrashers who were owned by The Atlanta Spirit Group. They acquired the Trashers as part of a package deal, also purchasing the Hawks. They immediately looked for ways to sell the team and get out of their seven year relocation clause. People love to say "no one went to the games" but the data shows you that they averaged more fans than the Blackhawks and the Islanders during their tenure in Atlanta.
Atlanta deserves a hockey team, and @Jamestown's plan to redevelopment North Point Mall is the perfect location

Incredible advertisement for term limits.
If you grew up in Forsyth County, you likely often visited the outlet mall in Dawsonville. I remember riding in the back of my parent's car wondering if we were ever going to get there once we passed Exit 17. There was nothing in between the exit and the mall.
Fast forward to 2026 and there is now an exit 18. On top of that, everyone and their mother opened a business between exit 18 and the outlet mall. There is barely any dirt left.
