⛵️✍️🚩New ⛵️✍️: The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) joins the expanding “International Day of Action” and dockworkers’ strike scheduled for October 30th, which will draw together dockworkers, seafarers, and portworkers across unions at more than 40 ports in Europe. The mobilization was spearheaded by an international coalition of union syndicates across Italy, France, Greece, the Basque country, Turkey, and Morocco. In Italy, the Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) has coordinated general strike actions and demonstrations that will take place at the ports of Civitavecchia, Genoa, Livorno, Gioia Truro, Taranto, and more. USB estimates that 40% of carrying capacity—and over 1,100 nautical miles of European coastline—will be shut down in the Mediterranean on the day of action at the end of the month. Until the 30th, unionists and direct actionists are mobilizing and striking under the banner of “Ports for Peace–Jobs with Dignity" and “Welfare not Warfare,” calling for the demilitarization of European ports and the end of arms shipments for the U.S.-Israel wars and the genocide of Palestinians. Following the mobilizations in September 2025 in Genoa and Livorno, the second “International Day of Action of Dockworkers” has been initiated by the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), responding to the call of Palestinian trade unions to shut down ports and worksites complicit in genocide.

"A worst-case scenario would be active collaboration between DSA electeds and Trumpist repression, however reluctant. While some were quick to dismiss the idea as cynical, Mamdani’s record—to take the most obvious example—isn’t encouraging so far."

beautiful. a clarity of alignment crucial to all liberation struggles; rejecting a false premise which locks identity of a movement into a purely negational relation tied to the identity of their oppressors, & keeps liberation as the compass which owes nothing to the chains.
