Rostral ZI also connects with subcortical locations. Importantly, it has a major projection to the lateral habenula. 6/n

PFC fibers course through the internal capsule (colored circles) and branch off (triangles) to the thalamus, ZI, STN, and SN (most probably collaterals). 4/n

Rostral ZI connections include converging inputs from several regions in the prefrontal cortex. 3/n

The ZI (red) is located dorsal to the very popular STN (white). And in this new study, we used a combination of nonhuman primate anatomical tract-tracing data and human tractography to delineate its connections. 2/n
