It is deeply disappointing and hurtful to see a player on as popular a team as the Blue Jays promote Islamophobia and conspiracy theories.
Muslims, particularly youth, who cheer for the team and its players will now doubt whether they truly belong to the Jays fanbase.
There is simply a no room for Islamophobia or hate of any kind in the MLB or within the Jays organization.
We call upon the MLB, the MLSE, the Blue Jays, and all leaders to denounce these anti-Muslim posts. We urge leadership to follow the same precedent it has established when other players have taken bigoted stances against other communities.
We also call for a full apology from Mr. Santander, as well as a commitment from him to meet with Muslim communities to thoroughly understand why his posts are false, hurtful, and harmful to Muslims in Canada.

I think this is the sort of thing that will end @SylviaJonesMPP tenure as health minister....

Agreed. A dollar of cap space is worth the same in every market. Florida's tax break belongs to the player, not the team.
What surprises me is how nobody talks about the RCA. Canadian teams can put part of a player's salary into a Retirement Compensation Arrangement. Once he retires outside Canada, he withdraws it at roughly 25%. Net result: the same tax as "no tax" Florida, sometimes less. And far less than New York, Massachusetts or California.
But sure, keep calling Canada a tax nightmare. #WeAreGoldStar!

Ontario. This is the MPP you need. This is the doctor you need. MPP Dr. Robin Lennox rightly accused Deputy Premier Jones of lying in denying a patient treatment that her doctors and Ontario Health itself recommended. Dr. Lennox - thank you. @RobinLennox
“She has lied and people have died.”

NEW: Ontario’s own health agency recommended funding a 31-year-old cancer patient’s treatment in the U.S. Two clinical experts agreed it was medically necessary.
But a senior ministry of health official denied her funding anyway — and Sabrina Apitz-Grossman was never told about those recommendations, new FOI records reveal. thetrillium.ca/news/health/o…

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney delivers a blunt message to Russia:
“You cannot bomb Ukrainian cities and then send your junior players to Alberta to play hockey as if you were civilised people.
No Russian or Belarusian teams at the World Junior Championship. Not under your flags. Not under any other flags. Period.”

I love that scene in Good Will Hunting where Ben Affleck is talking to Matt Damon's titular character Will Hunting and he's like “you've got a gift man and you've gotta get outta this town and make something of yourself” and the gift in question is being really good at math and the town he needs to get out of is Boston, Massachusetts.

Replying to @kris_sims
Thanks Kris. Now that you’re here… Are CTF employees supposed to be going to partisan fundraisers? This one would have been a top dollar one too. Have you yourself attended similar fundraisers?

Canada continues to get industrial policy wrong. Picking winners creates artificial barriers to competition and misallocates capital. A better approach would be a broad-based subsidy accessible to every firm in the space.

262 days.
It’s been 262 days since you were airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital.
262 days since we were told, “We did everything we could, but we don’t think she’s going to make it through the night.”
Since then, I’ve watched you fight for every single one of those days.
251 days ago, you opened your eye, moved it, and shifted your leg only to be rushed back for emergency surgery that morning when hydrocephalus set in.
238 days ago, you were extubated and breathed on your own for the first time.
230 days ago, you felt the sun on your face again.
224 days ago, the cranioplasty we had planned turned into yet another emergency when an infection was discovered.
214 days ago, your EVD was finally removed.
213 days ago, you sat on the edge of the bed with a little help, and I wrapped my arms around you for the first time since the morning I left for work before any of this began.
191 days ago, the NG tube came out, and I saw your beautiful face completely clear of tubes and tape.
179 days ago, your prosthetic skull was placed. Your fifth surgery, and the one that finally stuck. After that, things slowly began to feel possible again.
145 days ago, you smiled for the first time (intentionally) while we played thumb war.
140 days ago, I wheeled you off hospital grounds for the very first time.
61 days ago, I heard your voice again.
40 days ago, we celebrated your 13th birthday at the Foo Fighters.
And today, today you’re being released.
There was never a day I stopped believing we would get here. The road ahead is still long, but this is a milestone no one thought we would reach. Maya, you are the bravest person I know. You are an inspiration to so many people. Giving up was never an option for me, and it clearly never was for you either. You refused to accept the words we heard 262 days ago when you came out of the OR. Look at you, my girl. You blew every expectation out of the water.
Thank you to the incredible nurses, doctors, and therapists who walked every step of this with us. Thank you to everyone who supported Maya and our family we could not have done this without each and every one of you.
Now it’s time to leave these hospital walls behind and keep moving forward, Maya Bear.
I love you forever and always.

Exactly. Bradford never was in the lead. He was never even close. There was no massive 10 point swing in a week. Swings of that magnitude do not happen, especially not in municipal politics.
