Back to the ledger idea. Your bank keeps its own books and asks you to trust them. Bitcoin flips that. Thousands of nodes keep the same books, check every entry, and reject anything that doesn't add up. Verification replaces trust.

Trump on striking Iran: "We're thinking about doing it, and maybe tomorrow." Bitcoin is clinging to $80K, right on the ~$81K ETF cost basis. Glassnode: a convincing close below it puts the mid-$70Ks back in play. Strike or deal? 👇 Clip: WION | @realDonaldTrump @glassnode

Peter Schiff called it: "Now that it's below $80K, the next stop is likely $75K... it's going to be a very long weekend for Bitcoiners." Bitcoin bottomed at $79,146 and bounced right back above $80K. Meanwhile Fidelity Digital Assets' Zack Wainwright says the run from $100K to $200K "may happen much faster" than the 16 years it took to hit $100K. And Tom Lee says we're at the start of a bull market. Fed decides Wednesday. Schiff's $75K or Fidelity's $200K? 👇

Every 2,016 blocks, roughly two weeks, Bitcoin checks its own pace. Blocks coming too fast? Mining gets harder. Too slow? It gets easier. No committee votes on it. The code recalibrates, and it has since 2009.

Strip away the price and Bitcoin is an accounting system. A ledger of who can spend what. The strange part is who keeps the books: anyone who wants to. No bank, no auditor, no head office.

Need a couple hundred dollars of Bitcoin? You don't need an exchange. Show up to your local meetup and say you're looking to buy. @shaunsomers on how it works in Niagara.

The first Bitcoin block has a newspaper headline buried inside it. January 3, 2009. "Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks", written into the coinbase of block zero, which also proved the chain could not have been mined any earlier. A timestamp and a thesis in the same line of code.

Two things on the site that teach more than another explainer will: Satoshi Stacker, where you feel the issuance curve instead of reading about it. Halving Rush, which is exactly what it sounds like. Both free, both in the browser, no signup: halvingreport.com

May 2023. @adamobrien_: "CBDCs are meant to trick people into getting those instead of Bitcoin." Neither "have fun staying poor" nor "CBDCs are fine" gets us to hyperbitcoinization.
