Riding today with @PBGFire R63 and had a call at @Costco. When we arrived Luke from Costco was ready with the AED, and after talking to him he advised that they also have a @LifeVac on the wall. Recently they used it to save a choking child. The company provides medical training for the staff regularly and it was obvious they take their responsibilities seriously. Kudos to you @Costco 🙏 Here’s my take: EVERYONE should train on the following yearly: (preferably sponsored by their place of business: 1. CPR 2. AED 3. Choking 4. Stop the Bleed 5. Anaphylaxis (EpiPen) We do this every year at @Handtevy and it only takes 2 hours - then we have lunch.

It turns out that our data Rockstar at the @healthcaredist is a REAL ROCKSTAR! Joelle joined us at this week's @ESO_Solutions Wave conference to discuss the @PBCFR whole blood program and data collection efforts, and was invited up to play the drums at @petesaustin. In the video, he's is playing Everlong by the @foofighters. It was an incredible performance.

This week we held the first ‘SPARC Academy’ at the Broward Convention Center. We aimed for 60 attendees — 120 attended! The main message: Hemorrhaging patients need blood BEFORE they get to the hospital. The data we’ve presented leaves no doubt that pre-hospital whole blood saves lives. 6 year old Izzy had a post-tonsillectomy bleed at home. She was hypotensive and unresponsive when her Dad called 911. Her Dad happens to be one of our District Chiefs at @PBCFR . When he called 911 he said “Send the whole blood.” Hearing the 911 call, seeing the emotion from Chief, and watching Izzy run around the conference hall today was priceless. #Prehospital #WholeBlood #Pediatrics
