Delighted to be organizing Midwinter Conference of Immunologists with @DiehlLab_MSK! This is my favorite annual meeting - diverse science, great community, and beautiful location. Check out the speaker lineup and register at midwconfimmunol.org/

In our new paper out today nature.com/articles/s41586-0…, we started with a simple hypothesis - inspired by work on IL-4/IL-13 from @itchdoctor - that an innate immune cell might control sensory neuronal detection of allergens via a secreted factor. (1/11)

Why do we itch? Ask your immune system, and Dr. Sokol and colleagues. They provide a simple and elegant answer to this timeless question. Kudos to the authors on this fascinating discovery.

@TrendsImmuno, thanks for the invitation to write the spotlight.
Now, we are looking forward to the data from our investigator-initiated clinical trials using ARID1A as a biomarker (NCT04953104,NCT04957615).

Check out our lab's recent #preprint by Hanna Schwaemmle and our collaborators @unige_en. We asked how do cells assemble functional SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complexes? The key is to make just the right amount of each subunit!

Move over STING, TRIF and MAVS. IRSp53 and GMIP join the club of pLxIS proteins that stimulate interferons. So pleased to share our new study, which used synthetic biology to reveal multiple mechanisms that lead to anti-viral immunity. With a surprising link to metabolism.
We are excited to share our work dissecting how distinct SWI/SNF variants cooperatively reorganize the macrophage epigenome upon inflammatory signals and facilitate appropriate immune responses, now out in @ImmunityCP.

Our study also showcased the ability of SWI/SNF targeting compounds such as ACBI1 and BRDK98 to modulate inflammation through epigenetic regulation and implicate SWI/SNF as a novel therapeutic target for inflammation-induced pathologies such as sepsis and cytokine storm.
Beautiful wet lab and dry lab analysis by my graduate student, Jingwen Liao @ucsdbiosciences, with help from collaborators @EmilyDykhuizen and Hargreaves lab members Mannix Burns and Josephine Ho!
