It's to prepare the recently planted trees for the coming winter and cut the hedge around the wildflower garden. There is also some watering to do as not enough rain has fallen recently. And, as ever, a need for litter picking. We can provide gloves but have limited numbers.

PARK CARE CLUB AND MURAL We are rebranding our monthly Saturday sessions as 'Park Care Club'. They will still last an hour from 10-11am - starting this Saturday. Anyone who would like to join our group of regulars is welcome, including children under supervision of parents/carers

We also have two new noticeboards - one to replace the damaged one by the Haccombe Road entrance and the other at the main Quicks Road entrance. We are in discussion with the Council on their content.

So, we look forward to seeing anyone able to spare from 15 minutes to an hour between 10am and 11am, this Sat 19 Sept. Do bring gardening gloves if you have some, but we have equipment for most tasks, including for litter picking. Extra watering cans would help too.

We saw presentation about how donations such as this are used, with food and all kinds of other products or pre-loved items being passed on to families in need nearby, helped by a large - but always willing to expand - team of volunteers. @DonsLocalAction for more information

PARK CARE HOUR THIS SATURDAY We are experimenting this Saturday at 10am. Instead of just Litter Picking, we are trying a different name of 'Park Care Hour'. This reflects that we are nearly always doing more than litter picking; eg. watering trees and keeping shrubs alive.

One of our committee members regularly waters vulnerable plants, particularly those planted this year. If you would like to help him, do get in touch by tweeting us and we'll put you in touch.

LITTER PICKS AND GREEN FLAG RENEWED We held a very successful Litter Pick on Saturday, with a good turn out in the fine weather. Some two dozen joined us and much was collected. At the end of the hour, the chair Robin rehoisted the park's Green Flag, after it was reawarded.

The ceremony was just over a week ago at a ceremony at the AFC Wimbledon stadium in Plough Lane. If you have noticed the park being cleaner that in past years, it is in large part to the work of volunteers, including committee member Bert, who often does so daily.

Meanwhile, the Friends are grateful to the Living Water Parish church @LWPWimbledon which held a litter pick of their own on Sunday 19 July. The next Friends Litter Pick will be on Sat 22 August.
