Funny old thing you forget to mention that the U.K. dividend is now £2720, according to your own figures.
🔎 Back in 2014 the Westminster Treasury rolled out ‘12 things that £1,400 UK Dividend could buy‘, we’ve looked at how much many of those items cost now as part of the UK. snp.org/youll-have-had-your-…

The letters page of @ScotNational continues to be in despair on currency. This problem is intractable because the only possible solution - a new currency which sharply devalues - is immensely painful and electorally toxic.

My previous two posts on energy were so popular here's another. For the third day in a row energy rich Scotland is relying on transfer of electricty from England to keep the lights on. Before SNP/Greens two nuclear plants & a gas plant supplied all Scotland's needs hail or shine.

Nonsense. Scotland already benefits from being part of a UK-wide energy market. High energy bills are driven by wholesale prices, network costs, taxes and regulation, not some magical switch called Indy. Claiming Indy automatically cuts bills is a political slogan, not a fact.
Instead of cutting energy bills like they promised, the UK government is squandering Scotland’s vast energy resources. The best way to put Scotland’s energy in Scotland’s hands, and cut your bills, is with independence.

Good evening all 🙄 Holyrood costs Scots around £150 million a year (about £27 each). For that you get - • Ferries “launched” with painted-on windows & plywood funnels (costs ballooned past £400m) • A self-ID gender bill + male double-rapist briefly put in a women’s prison • A “Named Person” state guardian for every child (struck down by the Supreme Court) • Formal apology for 16th-century witch hunts • Official guidance coding ~24 genders (many with zero people) • Plan to chop the bottoms off classroom doors for Covid ventilation • Hate crime laws that worried police about policing speech • SNP CEO (Sturgeon’s husband) jailed for embezzling £400k+ of party cash on a motorhome etc. So my question must be …. Are you happy busting your arse everyday for this shit ???

😂😂😂 Scotland will NEVER be classed as a colony by the UN or international law. The 1707 permanent Union was a parliamentary merger between two kingdoms, not an overseas conquest. Scotland kept our own legal system and institutions and took FULL PART in our British state. Colonies do not get that. In 2014 Scotland held a Scotland-only vote on independence. The UK Government agreed the rules (Edinburgh Agreement + Section 30 Order), the Scottish Parliament ran it, turnout was 84.6%, and No won 55–45. Both sides accepted the result (well sane democratic people did). No actual colony on the UN list has ever been given a free, high-turnout, mutually agreed vote on leaving. The UK Supreme Court in 2022 looked at the “Scotland is an oppressed colony” argument and rejected it. Scots have meaningful access to government and are not under foreign military occupation. The court said the colonial self-determination rules simply do not apply. The UN’s list of Non-Self-Governing Territories has 17 entries. They are small, geographically separate overseas territories (Bermuda, Gibraltar, Guam, Falklands, etc.). Scotland is none of those things. Because the UK is a permanent Security Council member, other countries have no realistic way to force Scotland onto that list. It is not going to happen, trying to add part of a permanent Security Council members country state has never happened and will not happen. It’s mental that Nat groups push the “colony” line and actually raise money from sadly uninformed people who have not looked at reality, the 2014 vote or the Supreme Court judgment. These people are being conned. The legal and historical facts do not support us being classed as a colony - utterly stupid waste of time energy & money.
A major breakthrough is expected early next year in a bid to have Scotland recognised as an English colony at the United Nations. #UN #UnitedNations #LiberationScotland #Scotland #Independence #Scotland #News4Scotland #TheScotlandChannel

There is a simple solution to the currency problem that can be explained on the doorstep - or in a Tweet. We have to have a new free-floating currency, and it is going to tank. So the first two generations after Scexit have to accept permanently reduced living standards.
If readers of @ScotNational cannot stomach your currency plan, what chance has it got with ordinary voters?

To be honest I don’t mind delusional nats, they are harmless. But going to the UN and saying a part of the UK which massively benefitted from slavery is not to blame for it is just shameful. Someone from the SNP should disown this completely.

Your periodic reminder that when the wind doesn't blow Scotland, the Saudi Arabia of wind, is dependent on electricity transfers from England to keep the heating on. Currently 912MW being transferred. Without Torness nuclear it would 2,100MW (most of Scotland's demand).

OK… let me explain why your entire case is easy to collapse. Fife independence is not a “nice to have,” it’s a must have! We will only see progress in Fife if our decisions are made by the people of Fife, for Fife!

Sir Tom Hunter and Lord Haughey are right The SNP’s 19-year ban on compulsory redundancies is a slap in the face to every taxpayer. 800 “ghost workers” whose jobs no longer exist are still on full pay, costing at least £27 million a year. Over £500m all in. Some have been in the redeployment pool for over a decade. One NHS Highland case has dragged on for 17 years. John Swinney doubles down and won't give up the ghost. Jenny Gilruth talks about “value for money” with a straight face while the public sector is off course on workforce cuts and facing a multi-billion deficit. These clowns shouldn't be in charge of our money.

Pretending that a fringe campaign group is going to convince the United Nations to officially classify Scotland as a “colony” is a brilliant display of international diplomacy. I wonder if the editors at The National realise that under international law, Scotland is an integral, voting part of a continuing G7 state, not a UN-recognised non-self-governing territory, and that Scotland was a co-architect of the British Empire. Claiming that a nation who helped run the East India Company is secretly an oppressed territory on the verge of a “major UN breakthrough” is a flawless strategy for a publication completely bereft of historical and legal reality😂 Hey @grok Did The National actually find a UN loophole to rewrite international law, or are they just indulging fringe campaigners who forgot Scotland helped build the Empire?

Our oil wealth has been spent around the whole of the U.K. Fatima, in a similar way as London wealth has been spent around the whole of the U.K. You need to drop your nationalist dislike of the South.

This is the craziest shit I have ever seen—even for him. It’s the day before the midterms. He’s 20 minutes into this with no sign of slowing down. He looks like a corpse. He’s shlurping and mumbling. If he wasn’t a sadistic pedophile, I would scream about elder abuse.
It’s so much worse than I imagined. This is his closing message to the voters. h/t—R.E.M. “Because the pipes are very old and in bad shape, but we wouldn't have been able to do that. So we closed it, and we started to do that. We had — we opened it quickly, and there was great vandalism with slashing. We have pictures of it. We have photographs of it. In fact, I must say, Jesse Waters of Fox did a whole long piece on it. And it was sad to watch because the vandals really went to town. A lot of people tried to protect the vandals. But we got it done. We opened it just now with the pipes. The pipes now are totally renovated. They're brand-new pipes put in. And the pipes being very important in terms of the algae and other things. And it's a complete job, and we're very proud of it.”

Tommy Sheppard is writing essays for The National crying about “eroding public infrastructure” and “poverty” as if his own party hasn't been running the Scottish Government for nearly twenty years. Does he have any grasp of devolution? Health, education, and local transport are entirely under the control of Holyrood. He is admitting that public services are falling apart while completely ignoring that SNP ministers just blew £100,000 on World Cup flights and set £43 million of taxpayer cash on fire at Prestwick Airport. Blaming the UK Chancellor for the exact public services the SNP has mismanaged for a generation is ridiculous.

My last post on the Russell Brand trial reached nearly a million people, and my replies were immediately flooded with defenders insisting this was all just a coordinated establishment hit job. Well, week three just concluded at Southwark Crown Court, and the reality has gotten so much worse for anyone trying to defend him. For the last three years, Brand hid behind a podcast microphone, carefully rebranding himself as a humble, persecuted spiritual outsider. He even got baptized right after the criminal allegations broke to complete the transformation. Then he actually had to take the witness stand under oath, and the entire manufactured persona collapsed in real time. When questioned by his own barrister, Brand put on a loud theatrical performance, throwing around words like "badinage" and "loquacious" to charm the jury. But the moment the prosecution stood up to cross-examine him, the swagger completely evaporated into long, excruciating spells of dead silence. The prosecution didn't even need outside witnesses to tear him apart. They simply opened his own 2007 memoir and read his own confessions back to his face. Jurors had to sit there while the court read passages where Brand explicitly wrote that when he wanted a woman, he would "resolutely remove anything that’s in the way, until I possess the object of my desire." They read his own captions bragging about pretending to be effeminate specifically so women would lower their guard and let him into their hotel rooms. Think about that for ten seconds. He put the playbook in writing himself. As the prosecution pointed out in their closing speech, the jury isn't dealing with a media conspiracy. They are looking at six separate women spanning a ten-year timeline between 1999 and 2009. They didn't know each other. They have no personal or financial benefit to gain, and endless online abuse to endure, by having to sit in a criminal court to describe being assaulted. You can build an army of online defenders and hide behind sudden spiritual conversions all you want. But when your own published books describe treating women as objects to be possessed at any cost, the enlightened guru act is completely finished.
