Quebec separatism crushed the CAD, gave us 18% interest rates and despite a “petro dollar” surge in the 2010’s we haven’t recovered.
We are going to bury the separatists in this referendum and if @ABDanielleSmith persists in pandering to their stupidity, then she’s next.

This is such revisionist nonsense. Back when I was at the federal cabinet retreat pleading with them to get the international student situation under control (and getting called a racist for my efforts), Alberta was in the media asking for the population to grow *faster*.
The Prime Minister and I have found common ground on many things over the last 18 months. However, it appears that he has yet to fully understand just how damaging the open-border policies of his predecessor were. Those policies caused Canada’s cost of living to skyrocket, overwhelmed our social services, and made homes and jobs unattainable for thousands of young Canadians.
That’s why I’m encouraging Albertans to vote ‘yes to the rest’ to give our government a strong mandate to take more control over our immigration system, so that we can prioritize economic migrants, put Albertans first for jobs, and ensure Albertans’ social services are sustainable. We’re also asking for a strong mandate to work with willing provinces to reform the courts, abolish the senate, and protect provincial jurisdiction.
I look forward to hearing from Albertans on October 19th.

Well done Norway.

There is a lot of talk of dumping. Let’s look at the quantum of the problem. 🏭
In 2025:
🇨🇦 Canada produced 11.5 million tonnes of crude steel and imported approximately 386,000 tonnes of steel products from China and India combined, equivalent to 3.4% of domestic production.
🇺🇸 The U.S. produced 81.9 million tonnes and imported approximately 913,000 tonnes from those countries, equivalent to 1.1% of domestic production.
The U.S. imported more than twice as much directly. Canada imported more relative to its population and production. Both facts matter.
🌎 China accounted for roughly 52% of global crude steel production. India about 9%, the U.S. 4.4%, and Canada just 0.6%.
These figures provide scale. Imports alone don’t prove dumping, and Chinese steel entering Canada doesn’t prove it subsequently enters the U.S. disguised as Canadian steel.
The U.S. International Trade Commission has also demonstrated why evidence matters.
On February 6, 2024, it unanimously found that imports of tin mill products from Canada, China and Germany did not materially injure or threaten the U.S. industry, despite Commerce’s findings of below-fair-value sales. Consequently, no anti-dumping or countervailing duty orders were imposed on those imports.
That was a product-specific decision, not a blanket finding about all steel. But it illustrates the distinction between alleging dumping, establishing below-fair-value sales and proving injury.
If Washington’s concern is Chinese transshipment through Canada, identify the shipments, trace their origin and quantify the problem. Any measures justified by circumvention should reflect the verified volume and extent of that circumvention.
Why should legitimately Canadian steel face the same 50% Section 232 steel tariff applied to Chinese steel? China generally faces an additional 25% Section 301 tariff on covered products, so the total burden differs, but the blanket steel tariff still penalizes Canadian producers.
Canada and the U.S. share an interest in stopping unfair trade. Target the offending shipments and companies with evidence and proportionate enforcement. Workers on both sides deserve better than sweeping accusations. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

Can you imagine being gullible enough to hear, “the principal put my kid on drugs and scheduled surgery,” and think, yes, this sounds plausible?
At some point this stops being propaganda and becomes an intelligence test.

30 years ago Spitting Image dared to broadcast the truth about Israel.
Now no one dares.
French President Macron on Palestine:
"Just look at what's happening in the West Bank. Day in, day out, we are seeing violations. And in the name of what? Hamas was never active in the West Bank"
Finally. The world is realizing this was never about security. It was always about the Greater Israel project.
