On days like today when I get down on myself, I take a moment to remember what I’ve been through to bring me to this point in my life. Facing a terminal cancer diagnosis with a 3 month old baby was no easy task, yet I did it. I survived brutal surgery, chemo and radiation and have lived the last 20+ years with one lung. If that doesn’t prove what I’m made of, I don’t know what does.

My 81 year old mother has a great circle of friends of all ages. One of these little friends is about 10 years old. She drew a picture of a girl with purple hair and gave it to my mom. Mom shared it with my sister and me, and my sister said “This is how she sees you mom!” Not as an 81 year old grandmother, but a beautiful person who is an important part of her life. My wish is that we all could see ourselves through the lens of those who love us most. I think we would all be really surprised.

Weekend wisdom for every cancer survivor and patient out there facing scans: Worry has never changed the outcome of a scan for either the better or worse. We are so busy concentrating on the bad, we don’t realize that the scans can also be good! And yes it’s that simple. It’s normal to worry and I get that, however choosing to allow the scans derail your entire life is one I don’t choose to make . It’s taken a lot of inner work, but I promise, having peace around scan time is so worth it.

100 Influential Cancer Survivors on Social Media: 2026 Edition When you hear the words "you have cancer," what happens next defines everything. A few decades ago, a cancer diagnosis often meant stepping back from life, from work, from public roles, from the future you had imagined. Treatment was gruelling, options were limited, and survivorship was rarely part of the conversation. Today, more people than ever are not just surviving cancer, they are leading through it. Researching it. Speaking about it. Changing policy because of it. That shift happened one story, one voice, one act of courage at a time. In 2026, OncoDaily recognises 100 influential cancer survivors who refused to let their diagnosis be the end of their story and in doing so, have helped rewrite the story for all of us. oncodaily.com/100/100-most-i… #CancerSurvivors #OncoDaily #Cancer #Oncology #BIGR #NationalCancerSurvivorsMonth
