#APPEAL | Do you know this man who can help with our enquires following a reported sexual assault in a Liverpool city centre?
Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who may have information that could assist enquiries following a report of a sexual assault in a Liverpool city centre.
At around 2.30am on Sunday 26 April it was reported that a woman was with her friend at Hot Sport takeaway on Temple Court (near Matthew Street) when two men approached them and engaged in conversation.
One man, who is believed to have a Welsh accent, then touched one woman inappropriately before leaving the takeaway.
Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued CCTV images of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.
Detective Inspector Jemma Berry said: “This was a disgraceful attack on a woman, and I would like to reassure the public that incidents such as this are rare. The victim is very shaken and understandably very distressed by this ordeal.
“We are taking this incident extremely seriously and carrying out a number of lines of enquiry to find the person responsible. This incident took place in a busy area of the city, so if you were in the vicinity at this time and witnessed the incident or have information which will help with our enquiries then please contact us.
“I am also appealing to the man featured in the images, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
Det Insp Berry added: “Providing support to victims of sexual assault has never been more important, and I would encourage anyone experiencing this to report it to us and we will support you every way we can.
"If anyone who has suffered a sexual offence and you can find the courage to come forward and speak to us, we will deal with you sensitively and make sure that reports are thoroughly investigated."

Ring roads have inspired literature, artwork and music. And yet, Britain's very first has never been properly appreciated: Queens Drive. To rectify this, we sent David Lloyd up and down the length of this important landmark in Liverpool's social history. livpost.co.uk/in-a-queens-dr…

Women are at serious risk when staying at @TravelodgeUK. The hotel staff who gave a man a key to a woman's room at 3am were apparently following security procedures 'correctly' which beggars belief since:
❌She was checked in as a single woman.
❌They didn't phone her to check if he really was her boyfriend and welcome in her room.
❌They didn't accompany him to the room and knock.
❌They gave him a key card because he knew her name.
After he let himself in and sexually assaulted her, Travelodge offered her a £30 refund.
This is even more horrifying since it is not the first time this has happened. James Cox was convicted in 2025 of raping a woman in a Travelodge in Liverpool. You might think Travelodge would have instigated better security after such an incident, instead it seems to be aiding and abetting sex offenders. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3v7…

It is 39 years since Mark went missing, please keep his family in your thoughts 🙏🏻
ANNIVERSARY APPEAL – MARK GARVEY
Mark Garvey was 15 years old when he went missing on 2 March 1987 from Walton, Merseyside. He left home to visit his girlfriend in West Derby. With only the money for his bus fare in his pocket, Mark’s parting words to his mother, Dot Hughes were “mum, I’m going now” as he walked out the door.
Described as 5ft 3in in height and of slim build, pale complexion, freckles with brown hair and brown eyes. The last confirmed sighting of Mark was at a bus stop near the Jolly Miller pub on Queen’s Drive, West Derby. It later emerged the teenager found his girlfriend with his best friend, they argued and he left her house in tears.
It is not believed the 15-year-old was planning to disappear as he left behind a substantial amount of cash he had saved for a school trip.
