We came 3rd at the Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026. 🏆 What started as a hackathon idea quickly turned into something much deeper than we expected. The problem was simple at first: When accidents happen in Nigeria, insurance companies mostly rely on photos, explanations, and manual inspection. But photos don’t tell the full story. A dent can hide a bent chassis. A “small hit” can damage internal components. And sometimes… people simply lie. So we built Strulink. An AI-powered vehicle damage assessment system that works directly on WhatsApp. You text the bot. Scan your car with your phone. In minutes, the system predicts visible damage, hidden structural damage, and repair estimates using live market prices. We also integrated Haildesk (@haildeskhq ) into the platform to streamline support and communication directly within the experience. I handled the fullstack engineering and AI side, training the damage prediction models and building the system architecture behind the platform. @Teethimmy led the team and honestly did an amazing job coordinating everything from task delegation to the final presentation. He also handled a major part of the CAD/CAE simulations, ran the ANSYS analysis, and worked on building the 90-entry Von Mises lookup table used throughout the project alongside @_OLUWADUNSIN__ . Kehinde also contributed heavily to the simulation work and lookup table development with Eniola. But somewhere during the hackathon, we realized something bigger: The real problem isn’t understanding the damage after the accident. It’s understanding what actually happened before the impact. So now we’re building toward something else entirely. A telematics layer that continuously records movement, speed, braking, and impact data before collisions happen. Basically, a black box for everyday vehicles. Not just “this car is damaged.” But questions like: How fast was it moving? Who braked? What direction was the impact? Does the damage even match the physics? That’s the future we’re chasing now. Really proud of what Eniola, Kehinde , and I were able to build together in such a short time.
