my personal opinion on this matter rant:
spacexai got a shit ton of compute because elon wanted to compete on ai with open ai. and running amazing physical supply chains has always been elon's moat. no one can build out data centers as fast as he did with colossus. tesla was in this market anyways since they had to train fsd for their cars.
xai is currently miserably failing to compete on the frontier of ai. despite having the compute their models failed to reach a sota level on a time frame that made sense to stay competitive, they brought cursor to fix this problem which seems to work well. countless of other great people joined spacexai to work on this, and new great people are coming in though.
its the same issue meta had for a while with their ai department and still has, training ai models is hard and not a compute issue. especially at the frontier. if its not your main goal its hard to get it right. hence why anthropic is winning at this. its the only company that is hyper focused on ai out of all that compete.
if you have compute and can't turn it into a profit with ai usage you have to rent it out to others.
they rented it out mostly to anthropic, hence why anthropic rate limits haven't been a thing in a while and grok bot is currently using opus 5.5 as well.
getting financing for gpu clusters is only going to get more expensive and risky because:
a) the new line of upcoming gpu clusters will be more expensive then previous ones. with more expensive materials and research costs. ( constant innovation in this space has physical limitations )
b) due to shortage's across the entire supply chain and rising demands the timelines of building out chips, factories and grids will take longer, which means those who finance's it all take way more risk over long time periods. ( what his post came down to ) which they don't want to risk so they converge for companies that can finance a down payment with limited risks.
( space xai is one of the few that can )
i've always said it but its obvious space xai will become the aws cloud inference of the ai timeline. elon is good at running physical supply chain driven companies. the moat isn't going to be in the models/ software anyways in a few years, and he always knew that.
little to no people will need sota ai model intelligence from one singular provider in a few years anyways. since 90% of people don't actually need super intelligence for their day to day lives / don't know what to do with it.
people need ai to be affordable and accessible though, which is solely an inference, infra and compute problem once ai models are no longer the primarily moat ( and we’re converging toward commoditization right now )
neoclouds will most likely die, but their compute will not. it will just be bought up cheaply by companies like spacexai. and then we're back to the beginning of the end where every small player is being outcompeted out of every market we know in tech.

look at the companies that survived that and what they do and sell right now.

In the 1.300 years of Muslim-Arab slave trade, approximately a million Greek Christians were sold as slaves. Greek girls who were pretty were forced into prostitution after being enslaved to Turks who took all their earnings. Women captives were known to be subjected to sexual abuse.
After Chios Massacre (March 30, 1822) where the Muslim Turks slaughtered 42.000 Christian Greeks, 52.000 women and children were sold as slaves in the markets of Smyrna & Constantinople.
On September 1, 1821, Samothrace was devastated by the Ottomans through a general massacre, 10.000 men & boys were slaughtered while women & children were sold also in the markets of Constantinople & Smyrna. Only those who converted to Islam survived.
On July 14, 1821, 486 Greeks of Cyprus were publicly beheaded because they didn't convert to Islam.
On 13-22 September 1922, thousands of women (Greeks and Armenians) were mass raped and slaughtered in Smyrna from the Islamic horde, the Young Turks, who were motivated by racial and religious hatred. Only those who converted to Islam survived. They aimed the Christians of Anatolia and tried to erase our Greek footprint. They failed.
On 6-7 of September 1955, during the Constantinople pogroms, Muslim Turks committed rapes againt the Greek community of the City. Hundreds of women expelled and raped. Now there is a minotiry of less than 2.000 Greeks living in the city that their ancestors found, Constantinople.

Women captives were known to be subjected to sexual abuse. Male Muslims were given the right to have sex with female captives (slaves), which was phrased: "those men who guard their genitals, except with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for then there is no blame" (Quran 23:6), which granted men the right to have sex not only with their wives but also with female captive slaves.
Islam is an enemy for every woman.

I don't think you realize how lucky we are to have an Elon Musk at this level, actually fighting this thing.
Because let's be clear about the sides.
On one side, the people. The vast majority. Common sense, hard work, family, and one simple wish: to live in peace.
On the other, an illegitimate elite. Mostly globalist, which at its core is a communist project: managing humanity from the top, like a system. And since that project doesn't work (it has never worked anywhere), they survive in only one way: lies.
To hold on, this elite built systems of coercion and corruption. Ukraine is one of them. They've also captured and corrupted a huge share of the institutions that were supposed to protect us.
Take Bill Gates. On this line for years. It's no accident he ended up at the heart of Covid policy. Just ask yourself: why is a software billionaire talking directly to Fauci before the vaccine rollout even starts, as if he were part of the operation?
These people see humanity as a herd to be administered. But they're terrible at economics. They don't understand their model can't work. So instead of saying "we were wrong, let's change," they lie. They double down. And that's exactly what makes them dangerous.
Honestly, this system was almost impossible to break.
And then, by the most improbable of chances, there's one man. The richest man in the world. Who chose the side of the people against these illegitimate, mostly left-wing elites. And who's throwing all his power into this fight.
The system is dying. And he's the one pushing.
Think for two seconds. If Elon wanted to enslave humanity, he could have done it long ago. All he had to do was make a deal with the globalists. He'd have everything he wants, right now.
He did the opposite.
That should tell you whose side he's on.

Everyone knows the Union defeated the Confederacy in the American Civil War (1861-1865) because the North had all of the factories and immigrant cannon fodder, while the Confederacy had a superior military aristocracy which was unable to replace their losses and was unable to supply their armies with logistics due to a shortage of factories.
Now a similar dynamic is playing out in America.
Blue states like California, New York, Illinois are preventing anyone from building anything cool in their states. Democrats are suppressing economic growth in order to internally consolidate their own political control.
Democrat states are castrating themselves.
Blue states like California, New York, Illinois have a massive lead in terms of relative power, prestige, and influence. The era of globalism empowered the "coastal elites". Cities like New York, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco were some of the main winners of the past 50+ years of free trade, open borders, and global labor arbitrage.
What is developing, in plain sight, is a new shift in power. Longtime irrelevant red states are now the main beneficiaries of reindustrialization, because they are allowing construction of a new American industrial base. The traditional elite cosmopolitan coastal cities are handicapping themselves, and they're going to be left behind over the next 10-30 years.
