Sign petitions. Donate. Take action. Get educated. Listen. Don’t use your positive interactions with police/government to overshadow the racism that exists in our systems. It doesn’t “just kind of exist”...it is the backbone our country was founded upon.
If you don’t recognize that this is an issue in Canada then what rock are you living under? To be able to say “this is horrible in the States, good thing we live in Canada” - you are actively ignoring everyday issues.

Being raised in a racist family isn’t an excuse for YOUR racism. It’s a TIRED excuse. If you’re an adult or old enough to know right from wrong. You’re old enough to educate yourself on the matter. If you’re racist at your big age it’s an active choice.

I encourage everyone with privilege to get educated and use that privilege to act against the systemic racism in not only the States, but Canada as well. It is a corrosive and worldwide problem. Now is not the time to “just observe.” Racism is at every level is society.
