We are delighted to receive some really positive feedback from in the #NSS2023. The results suggest our students feel intellectually stimulated, challenged, well-taught, and supported by the right balance of teaching and independent study, and able to access the right resources.

All our students take a module on the French Revolution in first year
In the Harvard history dept most of the surviving Europeanists do Europe in the context of imperialism and colonialism. But no course on the French revolution, or on French history from medieval to the early modern period.

There’s an Iranian painting from 1945 called “The Victory of the Red Army over Fascism” that shows Stalin as an Iranian archer shooting an arrow into Hitler’s heart.

There's a programme on tonight called Game of Wool but for some reason apparently it is not about seventeenth-century trade regulations.

Historians have generally argued that the United Irishmen 'took over' the Defenders. I reckon it's much more the other way round: the plebeian and peasant Defenders 'took over' the United Irish. We even have Thomas Addis Emmet trying to tell us this, by almost direct address.

Here's another section of my Irish peasantry book, 'At the Rising of the Moon' summarised. This began as a quick comparator, but turned into an essay on English social history and a neo-Marxian revisionist account of its 'bourgeois revolution' . abebooks.co.uk/products/isbn…
