I think it's time to leave. Most of the people with whom I enjoy contact are already in the other place. But there are some I've not found, and I'll miss, including @17thCenturyLady @marting77294148 @DrHelenFry @ruslandvalley Hope to see you there

2024 has been a brilliant year for me, with so many personal milestones and fantastic events. The main highlight however was the publication of my book and the tremendous reception it has received so far. Thank you to everyone and happy reading in 2025!

"A great adventure mystery story, set in one of the best places on earth - the west coast of Scotland. Would recommend! Thanks for writing this, it was amazing." An anonymous Amazon review. I'll take that! Worth a look.

Awful hypocrisy: UK factories make and export thousands of tons of pesticides deemed too dangerous for us to use, but it is apparently fine to poison Brazilian farmers. Government should ban this immoral trade. @Greenpeace @PAN_UK theguardian.com/environment/…

Didn't Just Stop Oil folk get arrested and imprisoned for impeding traffic? And they were selflessly trying to save the planet, while these people are trying to avoid paying 50% of a tax everyone else has to pay.
So let me get this straight… On the day hundreds of farmers are in London to rightfully protest against #FamilyFarmTax, this Labour Gov releases a 464 page report on food security which doesn’t contain single mention of the Family Farm Tax. We need FULL impact assessment now.

My problem is that I trust big developers less than I trust local planning committees! .. see Angela Rayner wants to strip councils of power to veto developments thetimes.com/article/2ef0e7a…

Wonderful to see my good friend and BBC colleague, Lina Sinjab, reporting from the streets of her own city after years of exile. Revolutions are enthralling, heady things. What happens afterwards is sometimes less good. We can only hope.

According to the Express, magpies are "hooligans" & "instinctive killers" best controlled by using pesticides to kill their insect prey. Against stiff competition, possibly the worst piece of journalism I've seen. express.co.uk/news/uk/198437…

With gusts like this on the fells you need to be flexible, if it’s not working then turn around, the mountain will be there another day! Pick routes in the lee of the wind. FTA Paddy #SummitSafely #beadventuresmart

Christmas shopping? If you're wondering what to get for children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, whoever, my Amazon paperback might fit. Worth a look, anyhow.

6 December 2005. David Cameron (right), defeated David Davis (left) to become Leader of the Conservative Party. His decision to call the EU Referendum, in 2016, not thinking voters would back leaving the EU, proved a huge political miscalculation.

Doesn't it seem ridiculous now In fact it was ridiculous then!
5 December 1921. The English Football Association announced that football was “quite unsuitable for females” and banned the sport. At the time, women’s football was hugely popular and attracted large crowds. The ban was only lifted in 1971.
