The best approach I ever found for dealing with behavioral issues was at a Montessori school that had a garden out back. Certain boys would get wound up and out of hand. Instead of detention or discipline, I would say: go dig a hole in the garden. Just go dig for a while.
After an hour of getting hot and sweaty and moving dirt around, they would come back inside calm and relaxed and ready to engage. The energy had somewhere to go. Instead, most schools force that physical energy into a desk and then punish kids when it comes out sideways. The approach creates the problem it claims to solve.

Harsh truth: Homeschooling just hit 3.4 million students with stronger academic gains than public schools.
By 2050, more than half of all students will homeschool.
The exodus has already begun. The only question is whether you'll lead your family out or wait for permission.

I own a small bakery. Business has been slow. Rent is up. I was thinking about closing.
Last Friday, a teenager came in. He looked nervous. He counted out change for a cookie. He was short 50 cents.
"It's okay," I said. "Take it."
He ate it at a table, looking at his math homework. He looked stuck.
I used to be a math tutor.
I walked over. "Quadratic equations?"
He nodded. "I don't get it."
I sat down and helped him for 20 minutes. He got it. He left smiling.
The next day, he came back with two friends. They bought cookies.
The day after that, five kids came.
Apparently, he told the school, "The lady at the bakery helps with homework."
Now, my bakery is the after-school hang-out spot. It's loud. It's messy. There are backpacks everywhere.
Yesterday, I found a note in the tip jar. It was wrapped around a $20 bill.
"Thanks for helping my son pass math. A Mom."
I'm not closing the bakery.
I think I finally found my purpose.
It's not cookies. It's community.

🚨 SCHOOL PRINCIPAL BLOWS THE WHISTLE: “WE ARE DRUGGING KIDS FOR BEING KIDS”
A former principal just said the quiet part out loud on camera.
“Schools are drugging 6.4 million children for the crime of acting like children.”
6.4 MILLION kids on ADHD medication.
83% are BOYS.
He explains how the pipeline works:
• Boys show natural energy and curiosity
• Classrooms with 30 kids can’t manage them
• Teachers initiate ADHD referrals
• Parents are told: “He can’t learn without medication”
• The child is drugged into compliance
“We are chemically restraining normal childhood behavior because schools can’t accommodate human development.”
Diagnosis rates vary 300% between states - proving this isn’t biology… it’s subjective control.
And now 11% of all American children are labeled ADHD.
“A 7-year-old who can’t sit motionless for six hours isn’t sick.
The system forcing him to sit still is sick.”
This is a former principal admitting the system is chemically restraining normal childhood behavior.
Is this child abuse… or “education” as usual?

NYTimes: We need to regulate homeschooling; we can't trust parents.
Public School: 40% of kids bullied, 30% sexually harassed, 34% read at grade level, $18K a year.
Homeschoolers: 0% bullied, 0% sexually harassed, 99% read above grade level, $1000 a year.
Wild.
My husband was laid off a couple of months ago and I had to go back to work for the first time after raising and homeschooling our sons. I still do everything in my power to listen to ALL of the PDB podcasts. They lift my spirits and give me hope! #PBDpodcast700episode

“For every person who discredits our story…
For every political joke I see…
For every laugh at “Tylenol causes autism” like it’s some kind of punchline… I SEE YOU
💔 It’s disheartening. Especially when some of you are friends and family.
This isn’t a joke for me. This isn’t politics. This is my child’s life.
What was said yesterday was not “Tylenol causes autism.” What was said is that autism can be triggered by multiple factors — environmental, toxic load, medical, genetic vulnerabilities. That’s what I’ve been silently screaming for years. And no one wanted to listen.
Now, for the first time, an administration has acknowledged out loud what so many parents like me have lived, researched, and fought to understand. Yet instead of hearing the message, so many are quick to dismiss it simply because of who it came from and how it was delivered.
I need you to understand how discouraging that is. Our children deserve better than politics. Our families deserve better than eye-rolls and jokes. We deserve to be heard.
Because this is bigger than sides. This is about truth. This is about our kids.
Mock me if you want, but you’ll never silence me. I’ll fight louder, harder, and longer than your ignorance ever could.”

WOW: Cuban-born businessman Joseph Hernandez, whose family escaped communism, is running to CRUSH socialist Zohran Mamdani in the NYC mayor’s race.
He said his parents always told him that one day he would have to stand up for America to repay the debt of freedom this country gave their family.
That day is now.
This is what patriotism looks like.

I usually watch your podcast on my laptop but I also watch/listen to it on my phone while cleaning the house. @PBDsPodcast
It's really easy to get caught up in workbooks, tests, and regular school lessons. But honestly, there are way more important things we also need to emphasize with our kids.
Homeschooling is a journey filled with challenges, but also with moments that make your heart swell.
Every struggle, every sacrifice—it’s all building something beautiful.
