3 things i'll never do after studying neuroscience: 1. listening to sad songs on repeat: music can influence mood and reinforce emotional states. while sad music can help us process emotions, repeatedly engaging with it can sometimes keep us stuck in rumination. 2. talking negatively about myself: the brain can learn through repetition. repeated negative self-talk can reinforce negative thought patterns, influencing how we interpret experiences and perceive ourselves. 3. choosing familiar pain over uncertainty: the brain values predictability. familiar situations can feel safer than uncertain ones, even when they're unhealthy, because uncertainty demands more cognitive and emotional effort. remember: your brain is constantly adapting to your experiences. repeated thoughts and behaviours can reinforce certain neural pathways, influencing how you respond to stress, perceive yourself, and navigate relationships.

We're constantly encouraged to pursue more possessions, prestige, and power, believing they'll make us happy. But when things become what we love and people become what we use, we've got the formula for a good life completely backward. Things are meant to be used. People are meant to be loved. And God, not ourselves, belongs at the center of our lives.

Some Chinese high-speed train drivers still salute when receiving a train. It comes from the railway system’s long history of semi-military management. That era is history now, but many still keep the ritual alive. So don’t be surprised on your next HSR ride in China.

Your anxiety didn’t start in adulthood. It started when you became "The Good One." You learned to read everyone else’s needs before your own. 1. The β€œgood child” learns to read the room before themselves.

I went hiking up a koppie with university students from Windhoek yesterday. The whole trail up and down was scattered with plastic energade bottles. We picked up the litter we could find. Finish your drink and just toss it in the veld. Why you do it?

At Hope SA Foundation, we believe true wealth is not measured by how much we keep, but by how much good we can do with what we have. If we are not generous when we have enough, more will never feel like enough. Generosity turns blessings into hope. β€οΈπŸ™ #HopeSA #GiveHope #Generosity #Faith #Contentment

A rock-strewn crevasse is all that remains of what used to be the bustling Gyirong Port, after an enormous wave of water engulfed the checkpoint on August 26 – the first point of impact from a landslide and explosive flooding that then ripped into Nepal. CNN is joining a government-organized visit to access this restricted area, but maintains full editorial control. cnn.it/4hdjHlK

Grief asks questions that faith cannot always immediately answer. We can believe in God, believe the soul continues, know death is certain, yet still stand before disaster with tears in our eyes and ask: β€œBut why like this?” That is not a lack of faith. That is being human.
