Friday night football often brings communities together, and Perkins Tryon High School’s Hope Squad is using that time to make a difference!
Before each game, their Hope Squad takes to the video board to raise awareness for mental health, recognize their community partners, and encourage everyone to stand together in support of mental health and well-being. 💚
We love seeing Hope Squads use everyday moments to spread hope, spark conversations, and remind their communities that no one has to face challenges alone!

Digital citizenship is about how we treat each other. 💙
For students, online and offline life are deeply connected. A comment, image, message, or post can affect someone's relationships, well-being, and sense of belonging long after it's shared.
This Digital Citizenship Week, we're exploring how Hope Squad helps students navigate the digital world with empathy, thoughtful decision-making, and care for others.

A safe school is more than a place where students learn—it’s a place where they feel seen, supported, connected, and safe to ask for help.
Hope Squad builds that kind of school culture by empowering students to look out for one another and connecting their peers with trusted adults when support is needed.
This America's Safe Schools Week, let’s remember: school safety starts with connection.

It’s #WorldMentalHealthDay. 💚
A reminder to check in.
To listen.
To ask for help when we need it.
And to make sure the people around us know they don’t have to face hard things alone.

It’s homecoming season! At Westside High School in Nebraska, Hope Squad used the annual parade as an opportunity to share the hope.
With a “Hope Takes You Higher” UFO-themed float, Members passed out candy and mental health resource cards. 🚀💙
We love seeing Hope Squads find creative ways to connect with their communities. You don't always have to start from scratch; instead, look for opportunities that are already happening and find a way to bring the message of hope along!

A kind word. A helping hand. A smile. Sometimes the smallest acts can make the biggest difference.
Let’s choose kindness today—and every day. 🌟

Every student deserves safety, belonging, and kindness. 💛
This October, for #BullyingPreventionMonth, let’s each do our part to spread more connection and hope.
Bullying doesn’t just affect how a student feels—it can affect their ability to learn, concentrate, and feel confident at school.
A safer, more connected school community helps every student feel supported and ready to learn. 💛

Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.
A smile. An invitation to sit together. A genuine “How are you?” A message to let someone know you’re thinking about them.
This month, let’s look for little ways to make someone feel seen, valued, and connected.
Because kindness may take only a moment—but its impact can last much longer. 🌟

Prevention starts with hope. ✨
Hope grows when students know that they matter, know that they belong, and know that they don’t have to face hard things alone.
Together, we can build school communities where hope has room to grow.

What does it mean to be a trusted adult? 💛
It means being someone a young person feels safe turning to when they need to share something difficult, ask for help, or say, “I’m worried about my friend.”
It doesn't require you to have to have all the answers. You can listen without judgment, take their concerns seriously, and help connect them with the right support.
Our latest blog shares practical ways to respond when a child or student opens up—and how to be the trusted adult who connects.

What do peers have to do with MTSS?
Join Hope Squad Founder Dr. Greg Hudnall on September 23 at 2:00 p.m. ET for a special edWebinar to find out how two district leaders use peer nomination to strengthen MTSS at every tier, from universal prevention to targeted support.
You'll hear from Tiffany Sommerfeld (Belton ISD) and Shannon Toney (Billings Public School District) on what it took to build peer nomination into their MTSS structure and how it's helping them identify students earlier and connect them to help faster.
If you're evaluating how to close gaps in your MTSS strategy, this is a conversation you won't want to miss.

Leader Spotlight: Director of School Counseling Steven Shiels from Tomball ISD 🌟
What began with three high school squads in 2024–25 has grown into a districtwide movement of hope and connection in Texas.
Led by Steven, with funding from Superintendent Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora's Superintendent of the Year award, Hope Squad expanded to all seven secondary campuses in just two years—empowering students to support peers, promote help-seeking, and remind one another that no one has to struggle alone.
We love seeing support spreading across entire communities!

Prevention starts with trusted adults. 🧑🏽🏫
Students need adults who will listen without judgment, take concerns seriously, and help them find the right support.
In fact, being the adult a student trusts is where prevention begins.

Want to connect? Start by listening. 👂
Whether it's a friend, a classmate, or a student in need, taking the time to truly hear someone can make all the difference.
