A huge thank you to everyone for your kind words and good wishes. They mean a lot. As you know Stark is back home and recovering from this mornings incident. A special thanks to everyone @PDSA_HQ Oldbury not just for last night but the incredible work they do 24/7 👏👏 @WMPDogs
A fantastic job by PD Stark & PC Hopley overnight. PD Stark detaining an aggressive male, who attacked him multiple times with a machete. A HUGE thanks to @PDSA_HQ for their emergency surgery for PD Stark after suffering multiple wounds from the machete #topdog #detained 🐾💪

I’ve probably not written the post very clearly with the emotions of the day. Just to make it clear that Snow, Arya & Tyrion are still very much with us and doing well. Of the game of thrones litter it’s only RPD Stark and RPD Bran that have sadly crossed the rainbow bridge 💔🐾

Poor Sully’s back in the wars again….. his body has rejected the pins and plates from his broken leg back in November so he’s had to have them replaced with titanium ones for a long term solution. No swimming in the pool for a while unfortunately 🥺🥺🐾🐾🤕🤕

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of my retirement. It’s bitter sweet as I wish Stark was still here to mark the occasion with us. However, I’m sitting around his pool with Roxie, Sully, RPD Mickey and @meeshymoo2 raising a cold beer in his honour. 🐾🐾

7 years ago today Stark became police dog 4921 after our initial licence. Still struggle with the fact he’s no longer with us. Miss him so much 💔💔🌈🐾

Your continued silence on this is unacceptable. Your members deserve to know if you have or intend to suspend those arrested. You’ve turned comments off on all of your posts. The arrogance and lack of accountability & transparency from @PFEW_HQ is staggering and disgraceful.
(1/2) We are aware that three individuals connected to the Police Federation have been arrested as part of an ongoing police investigation. This is a live matter and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.

RPD Trev, RPD Chase and my boy RPD Mickey. 3 fantastic dogs all now enjoying their well earned retirement. 🐾🐾🐾
Introducing our new members of the NFRSA family, Meet our retirees, who dedicated their service to @WMPolice 🐾 RPD Trev is an 11-year-old sprocker. He served a remarkable 10 years as an Explosive Substance Search Dog. “Trev joined my family whilst I was in maternity leave having my daughter Trinity- they both grew up together. We have worked together operationally for 10 years. As we retire together, Trev is the oldest working search dog in the West Midlands Police.” - Trev’s mum. Trev has been extremely successful when it comes to keeping the public safe, doing events such as the Queens funeral, the commonwealth games, political conferences and royal visits. 🐾 Chase is a beautiful German Shepherd aged 8, who had been loyal to his service for just over 7 years. Not only was Chase a Police Dog, but he was also trained as a Firearms Support Dog. His handler, now mum, Sue, shares Chase’s story: “PD Chase is a big dog weighing in at over 50kg. He has developed into a fantastic Police dog catching numerous criminals often by his presence alone stopping offenders in the tracks. Chase is a special part of our family, the gentle giant, a big puppy at heart.” Sue and Chase are now enjoying retirement together. 🐾 Mickey, nearing the age of 5, is a labrador/pointer cross. For 2 years and 9 months, he served as an Explosive Detection Dog. “Mickey was licenced just in time for the 2022 commonwealth games in Birmingham and was immediately deployed to assist with the Policing operation. His last duty was a defensive search for a visit by HRH King Charles III. I retired from the Police force and purchased him so our family could stay together.” - Paul, Mickey’s dad. Mickey was the brother and best friend of Stark, who was a favourite here at the NFRSA. Thank you to these fantastic retirees, welcome to the NFRSA. We all wish you a comfortable and adventurous retirement.

📢 Calling all change-makers this weekend! Would you take just a few moments to please support the NFRSA during the @£50,000 in 100 Hours Donation Challenge at @MyGivingCircle by giving us your paw print of approval? You could help us secure vital grants towards our mission and with over £20,000 already committed this year to members of the NFRSA family, we know we will be needing that help. No donation is required - although hugely appreciated! ‘Protecting our Protectors’ is our motto - for us it’s all about the animals, and you will be a part of that pledge. A repost too would be amazing. Thank you! mygivingcircle.org/national-…

Today would have been PD Bobby’s 6th Birthday. Tragically he lost his very brief battle with cancer 2 days before his 2nd birthday. Fly high little man, miss you everyday. At least you’re reunited now with your bestie Stark 💔🌈🐾

This is still one of my most prized possessions and I’m immensely proud of Stark for his bravery in winning this. He was a very special boy. Michelle and I are absolutely heartbroken. 💔
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our 2021 Thin Blue Paw Outstanding Bravery Award winner, RPD Stark, who served with West Midlands Police and was attacked with a machete in 2020. Stark retired earlier this year and had been supported by the Foundation during his retirement with much-needed hydrotherapy sessions. Following a short illness, Stark passed away in his handler’s arms on 7th December 2025. He will be dearly missed by all at the Foundation, and our thoughts are with Paul, Michelle, and all who loved and adored him. RIP Stark, you may now stand down. 🌈💙🐶🚔🇬🇧

Thank you Dave. We’re completely devastated and it was actually exactly 7 years ago today that I first took him home as that excited 15 month old puppy. 💔🌈🐾
RIP RPD Stark 🐾💙 A dedicated police dog who served with courage and loyalty through his career. Injured on duty while protecting others, Stark continued to exemplify the very best of police service My thoughts are with Paul and his family. Thank you for your service, Stark🐾

The post I never wanted to do. I’m devastated to say that my boy RPD Stark passed away in my arms on Sunday 7th December following a sudden illness. Michelle and I are absolutely heartbroken. It has come as a massive shock. We miss him dearly, sleep tight brave boy 💔🌈🐾😥😥
A much loved member of our family has joined his friends at rainbow bridge. RPD Stark who served with astonishing success from @WMPolice and @WMPDogs passed away on Sunday, 7th December and while we have known since it happened, we respected the privacy of dear @Hoppers71 and his wife Michelle who have been struggling to come to terms with his loss. So many of you knew Stark - his phenomenal career as a police dog, and his recent retirement, which while desperately short, was filled with adventure, love and some Spanish sun. We have been supporting Stark with his monthly medications, as well as during his awful sepsis this summer, and we will be supporting Paul with this final chapter too. Stark - it was an absolute privilege to know you personally, and an honour to be able to help you in your retirement. You’ll always be considered a member of our family - and Paul and Michelle will always be in our lives. Bless you dear one - sweet dreams, and thank you for your service, and for the light you brought to so many. We’ll keep an eye on your Mum and Dad for you. Safe travels. 💜

*GRAPHIC IMAGES*You may know that RPD Stark was very poorly with sepsis and was then close to losing his leg due to infection & swelling. Now he’s 90% recovered I can share with you all just how serious it was. Credit goes to Máté @ 608 vets who went above and beyond to save him

Can’t believe it’s been 5 years since Stark was attacked with a machete whilst searching for offenders. Luckily he made a full recovery and served for another 4 years after that. Now he’s almost a year into his retirement and still loving life…albeit with a few health issues 🐾
